Summary

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for oversight and management of the volunteer program and completion of assigned tasks for the outreach, bereavement and veterans' programs. Recruitment, screening/interviewing, training, supervising and assigning volunteers based on individual hospice patient care plans. Tabulate and document hospice volunteer hours and cost savings, monthly. Generate reports from the volunteer hours and cost savings monthly, and file efficiently. Complete and maintain all other state and federal regulations for hospice volunteer position and hospice volunteer files. Provide volunteer recognition at annual volunteer appreciation luncheon, in IDG and any other time as needed. Keep Recruitment and Retention logs to document all efforts to obtain, maintain, and recognize hospice volunteers. Supervise and support volunteers to provide meaningful experiences for both the volunteer and the patient. Resolve any issues related to volunteers and seek guidance when needed from supervisor. Attend all IDG meetings and ensure all hospice volunteers are informed promptly with any patient change in condition. Assist with providing bereavement support to hospice patients, families, and in the community through any of the available bereavement services. Assist with providing veteran supportive services, including but not limited to: veteran monthly meetings, veteran escort ceremonies, live veteran hospice discharges, and veteran VA benefits. Assist with assessing communities we serve for support needs and promote and provide outreach services, including but not limited to: Grief Support Groups, Veteran Support Groups, Annual 5K Memorial Walk/Run, In-services, Presentations, and Educational Seminars. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.

Job Qualifications

  • BSW required
  • Three to five years related clinical experience in varied multi-disciplinary setting
  • Volunteer supervision experience preferred
  • Demonstrated skill in administrative performance
  • Expertise with both written and oral communication
  • Supervision of staff and services
  • Ability to perform documentation requirements and program management
  • Manual dexterity and skillful use of hands when working with equipment
  • Abilit to perform critical thinking, medical and psychosocial assessments and judgments
