BETHEL SD 52 is Hiring a 2024-25 SY 1.0 FTE Instructional Coach Near Eugene, OR

Bethel School District is seeking appropriately licensed candidates for the Instructional Coach position for the 2024-2025 school year.

Candidates who are licensed or will have the ability to be licensed by Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission by the start of the 2024-25 School Year are encouraged to apply.

  • Demonstrate culturally responsive instructional practices that are engaging, organized and effective
  • Connects well with students, families, and the school community – open to learning about others, especially those who may be different from you
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Incorporate feedback and professional learning into teaching practices
  • Maintain collaborative and collegial relationships with building and district staff (be a team player)
  • Participate eagerly in opportunities to learn, show a strong willingness to grow and maintain an interest in improving

Essential Functions:

  • Provide instructional coaching and modeling on evidence and research-based content rooted in the science of reading and writing and includes culturally responsive pedagogy that can be differentiated to meet the needs of individual learners.
  • Knowledge and experience with coaching and feedback cycles that focus on enhancing student learning, and maximizing teacher’s knowledge and skill 
  • In depth knowledge of district behavioral and data systems including MTSS, RtII, and CRPBIS and maintains the ability to support implementation of these efforts
  • Use data to inform instructional decisions and support and guide teachers to effectively use data to inform instructional decisions and meaning making
  • Informally observe teachers as they implement changes in instructional approaches and provides feedback to the teacher that is student centered
  • Provide non-evaluative consultation, technical assistance, guidance, and professional development to assigned schools 
  • Support and mentoring for new teachers
  • Provide side-by-side coaching and planning 
  • Provide ongoing professional development to teachers in a school-based or district-based setting
  • Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with Oregon state standards, curriculum, and assessments
  • Support staff to understand and attend to the impacts of implicit bias 
  • Participate fully in professional development for coaches, including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions.
  • Actively participate in District meetings as needed, and professional development activities designed to improve professional competence
  • Collaborate regularly with building and district administrators
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Perform other duties or activities as assigned

Selection Factors:

  • Knowledge of educational lprograms offered in all schools and of basic educational techniques, as required by the position.
  • Knowledge of the basic developmental stages of a child's learning process.

 Minimum Education and Experience Required to Perform Essential Position Functions:

  • Valid Oregon Teaching license
  • Master’s Degree with an emphasis in Reading, K-8 endorsement (preferred)
  • Five of years teaching experience in literacy content
  • Extensive knowledge of the content and methodology of comprehensive reading and writing instruction, literacy development and science of reading
  • Experience using assessment results to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
  • Knowledge of successful techniques for classroom organization and experience planning for effective literacy instruction.
  • Knowledge of RTII in Reading and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
  • Ability to share instructional approaches with teachers and administrators and interpersonal skills to provide advice and
  • Strong organizational skills, strategic planning skills, and efficiency in meeting deadlines

Highly desirable qualifications:

  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities, preferably Spanish/English
  • Experience working in richly diverse school communities and environments
  • Strong Knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
  • Strong Knowledge of Response to Intervention strategies
  • Strong Knowledge and Application of the Science of Reading literacy instruction (LETRS Trained)

Salary Range: $46,048 to $ 92,927 (depending on experience, and education)

Contract Days: 192
