Description

Bethany Athletic Club's new childcare center Bkids, seeks a Head Teacher to join the Bkids team! The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, nurturing, and caring for chidden from ages 6 weeks-5 years old.

Schedule: M-Fri
Pay: $20.50-$21

Shift: FT

Main Responsibilities:

  • Trains new employees and provides ongoing training for all childcare/youth programs staff
  • Coordinates the weekly schedule, covering different shifts if necessary
  • Serves as the lead customer service contact for members in the childcare/youth programs areas, including: answering questions, welcoming parents and other member communications
  • Acts as a liaison between the childcare/youth programs areas and all other departments, communicating relevant information to the childcare staff as needed
  • Develops and manages new and existing youth programs (both free and fee based)
  • Coordinates youth birthday parties and other events related to children/youth
  • Establishes, monitors and analyzes the childcare/youth programs budget
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the childcare/youth programs departments
  • Orders any supplies needed for the childcare/youth programs departments
  • Refers all HR related issues including hiring, termination, performance issues, etc. to the Operations Manager and/or HR department
  • Must be able to work days, evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Certified in CPR/First Aid
  • Highly motivated
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent management and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS/BA) from college or university with a major in:
    • Early childhood education
    • Child development
    • Elementary education
    • Special education
  • Associate degree (AS/AA) from a college with a major in:
    • Early childhood education
    • Child development
  • A one-year state or nationally recognized credential related to preschool-age care.
  • Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in:
    • Early childhood education
    • Child Development
    • Elementary education
    • Special education
    • AND at least one year of qualifying teacher experience* in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of preschool-age children
  • At least two years of qualifying teaching experience, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center or comparable group care program, in the care of preschool-age children
  • Documentation of attending at least Step 8.5 in the Oregon Registry

TRAINING:

  • Head teachers must have completed OCC approved health and safety training (before having unsupervised access to children)
  • Have completed a minimum of two hours of training on child abuse and neglect that is specific to Oregon law before they can have unsupervised access to children.

If the center is certified to care for infants, the head teacher must have completed OCC approved safe sleep training.
