Beth Abraham Synagogue is Hiring a Religious School Educator Near Dayton, OH

Part-time Religious School Educator

Beth Abraham Synagogue in Dayton, Ohio is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable part-time educator/administrator to lead our (approximately 20 students) Religious School. The ideal candidate is passionate about Jewish education, has administrative experience, and relates well to students and parents.

  • Term: August 1, 2024 - May 31, 2025
  • Time Commitment: 15-18 hours average per week
  • Compensation: $18,000 - $20,000 (depending on experience)

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Jewish religion and culture
  • Knowledge of Conservative Judaism
  • Passionate about educating young people about Jewish values, history, and community
  • Knowledge of or willingness to become proficient with the Shalom Learning Education Program, a hybrid learning program.
  • Demonstrated skill in facilitating classroom learning in a dynamic and meaningful way
  • Knowledge and understanding of multi-age classroom groupings
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated skill in overseeing Hebrew language instruction
  • Proficient in Hebrew and Tefillah
  • Demonstrated skill in coordination of Bar and Bat Mitzvah Program
  • Demonstrated skill in building relationships with students, families, and colleagues
  • Outstanding team player and builder with collaboration skill

Essential Job Functions:

  • Be present on Sundays for Religious School as well as for Beth Abraham services and events
  • Teach Religious School class
  • Lead and implement the educational program
  • Develop curriculum with input from stakeholders including the Rabbi
  • Organize and implement Hebrew curriculum and lessons for students
  • Hire, supervise and direct staff
  • Communicate on a regular basis with Religious School families
  • Develop a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all Beth Abraham families
  • Respond to inquiries by prospective families
  • Prepare and maintain school budget
  • Follow Beth Abraham policies and procedures
