Represents the hotel to the guest throughout all stages of the guest’s stay by working with all hotel personnel to ensure every guest experiences superior customer care. Responsibilities include booking reservations, registering guests, assigning rooms, accommodating special requests, and ensuring the guests have a pleasant stay and smooth checkout.
Duties Include:
· Maintain an inventory of vacancies, reservations, and room assignments
· Working knowledge of reservation system with ability to book/change/cancel reservations as requested and permitted. Know rate plans as well as discount codes. Know special booking rules for high peak seasons.
· Know room locations and types of rooms available
· Register arriving guests and collect proper payment methods at check-in
· Coordinate room status updates with housekeeping department by notifying housekeeping of all check-outs, late check-outs, early check-ins, and special requests.
· Coordinate guest room maintenance work with the maintenance department
· Use persuasive selling techniques to book reservations and to promote hotel and area
· Understand Best Western Reward program and use persuasive techniques to meet requirements for qualified sign-ups at property level
· Understand WIFI procedures (sign-on/passwords) and how to assist guests with issues
· Manage and resolve all guests complaints in a professional and courteous manner
· Process guest checkouts and handle all monetary transactions; close out end of shift totals with proper reports and monetary tab
· Know local area in regards to shops, banks, activities, and tours. Assist guests with suggestions, directions, plans during their visit
· Maintain customers’ privacy
· Maintain a high level of professional appearance and demeanor
· Maintain a cheerful, friendly, and courteous demeanor at all times
· Respond to emails regarding information, reservations, etc.
· Answer telephone in friendly, upbeat, manner and respond to requests as required
· Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Previous hotel-related experience preferred
· Ability to communicate with public, hotel staff, and management in a professional manner.
· Knowledge of surrounding areas and local events
· Ability to understand and adhere to proper credit, check cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures. Able to properly secure guest information.
· Ability to learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies and procedures.
· Skilled in the use of front office equipment
· Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
