Best Point Education & Behavioral Health is Hiring a Psychiatrist Near Cincinnati, OH

Part-Time 

Locations: Main Campus (Madisonville) and Butler County Campus

Performs comprehensive psychiatry services in accordance with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (ODMHAS) and within the standards of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Services include psychiatric diagnostic assessments, evaluations, determination and redetermination of diagnosis and medication management. Consults and collaborates with Medical Director, Associate Medical Director and multidisciplinary treatment team as applicable in constructing diagnostic and treatment recommendations and considering the latest in care advancements and medications for populations served. Ensures delivery of high-quality care consistent with agency, payer/reimbursement expectations and accreditation standards. Provides formal and informal education and training for other professionals, interns/residents and direct care staff as applicable. Monitors and meets position performance standards and expectations. 

Primary Responsibilities:

Direct Client Service

  • Collects, assesses, and analyzes patient information to develop diagnostic assessments, treatment plans and recommendations. 
  • Monitors and triages patients receiving psychiatric services and utilizes available scales, tools and measurements as applicable.
  • Establishes and maintains strong patient relationships and provides support to parents, guardians and others as necessary and/or required.
  • Educates and coaches patients, parents/ guardians, agency staff, and other stakeholders regarding health and wellness as well as symptoms and medications, as appropriate.
  • Ensures integration of behavioral and physical health care as appropriate. 
  • Manages and navigates the health care delivery system to ensure patients receive the appropriate type and level of services.
  • Recognizes, acknowledges, respects and evaluates the impact of cultural competence and other factors in the care of the patient.
  • Ensures the efficient and effective flow of patients to meet their needs while meeting utilization and documentation standards.
  • Utilizes the agency’s electronic medical record as the key source of client data and client record keeping.

Quality Assurance and Effectiveness

  • Maintains compliance with program and departmental quality metrics and ensures efficient, effective and safe care is provided to each patient. 
  • Complies with performance standards set by the Medical Director, Practice Manager and agency.
  • Monitors, assesses, reviews and evaluates personal performance based on established standards, audits and customer feedback.
  • Complies with department and industry best practice protocols, ensuring a consistent level of quality of care. 
  • Monitors and triages patients receiving psychotropic medications for effectiveness and side effects through assessment and education.
  • Contributes to continuous quality improvement activities, collects and reports data to systematically evaluate coordination of care, symptom management and individual as well as population level outcomes.

Internal and External Collaboration

  • Consults and collaborates internally with peers, other physicians/clinicians, therapists, and other program staff involved in the treatment, care and scheduling of patients.
  • Consults and collaborates externally with parents, caregivers, community health care providers and related others to adequately meet the health care needs of patients assigned.
  • Provides consultation, collaboration and as needed training of staff, key stakeholders and other interested parties.

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Ensures the delivery of medically necessary services consistent with payer standards and utilizing correct billing codes.
  • Complies with provider productivity and documentation requirements including content and time of completion.
  • Works closely with Practice Manager to monitor no shows, cancellations, productivity and other measures to maintain financial viability.

Administration

  • Obtains all consents necessary for treatment including medication management and administration.
  • Provides information and education to the patient and parent/guardian where applicable regarding risks, benefits, and side effects of medications prescribed. 
  • Completes and maintains all required paperwork and collaborative documentation for medical management services in electronic medical records system in a timely manner. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned or delegated

Minimum Education, Experience and Other Skill Requirements:

This position requires a current and applicable medical license in the State of Ohio; must be board-certified within area of specialty. Psychiatric experience with children/adolescent and/or medical care experience with children/adolescent is required. Medical experience in a community clinical setting or school setting preferred. DEA license required. 

Must possess minimum technical/computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Windows, ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications and have utilized electronic health record systems.
