Best Formulations is Hiring a CHANGEOVER TECHNICIAN MR Near City of Industry, CA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Changeover Technician performs all approved sanitized cleaning of the Softgel Encapsulation Machine, tumbler and area around the machine between different product runs. This position also assists the machine operators with miscellaneous duties such as spreading and removal of gelatin waste due to shortage of operators and when no changeovers are scheduled.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.   • Removal of capsules from tumbler baskets and tumbler basket housing.
  • Removal, cleaning, sanitizing and replacement of tumbler baskets.
  • Replacement of dry basket gaskets.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of tumbler basket housing.
  • Cleaning, sanitizing and replacement of medicine hopper.
  • Cleaning, sanitizing and replacement of conveyors and blower hoses.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of ribbon guide rollers.
  • Cleaning, sanitizing and replacement of mangle rollers.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of chute area.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of medicine transfer pump.
  • Cleaning, sanitizing and replacement of spreader boxes.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing or replacement of medicine leads, hoses and gel hoses.
  • Assembly and verification of gasket assembly on gel hoses.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of drum area.
  • Sweeping and mopping of floor area.
  • Cleaning of walls and ceiling around the Encapsulation machine.
  • Vacuuming and cleaning of Oil pan beneath the Encapsulation machine.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of spreading area.
  • Completion of the Encapsulation Machine Deep Cleaning Checklist, F139.
  • Spreads softgel onto trays evenly for drying.
  • Maintains supply of tray paper and empty trays at back of dryer.
  • Arranges the stacks of trays in the drying tunnels appropriately.
  • Helps machine operators by locating appropriate medicine and gelatin receivers.
  • Throws gelatin netting into designated trash bins.
  • Keeps mineral oil buckets filled for machine operator use.
  • Empties vacuum cleaners.
  • Cleans and maintains processing equipment, tools and rooms.
  • Changes towels in drying baskets.
  • Assists machine operator in checking temperature of medicine or gelatin.
  • Assists machine operator in checking specifications of the encapsulated softgels.
  • Assists in monitoring running machines.
  • Informs machine operators of poor quality softgels coming out of the drying baskets, malfunctioning machine parts, overflow of medicine hopper and any other irregularities during the production run or changeover/cleaning of the machines.
  • Perform changeovers/cleanings of Softgel Encapsulation Machines and other duties associated with department duties.
  • Follows established department SOP's, cGMP regulations, and batch record instructions.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and operates in a safe manner.
  • Perform other job duties related to the job, as assigned by management.

  • Good written and oral communications skills & techniques.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, rounding).
  • Proficiency with 10-key calculator.

SELECTION GUIDELINES

The appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are achievable through the following combination of education, work experience and training:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED Certificate; and/or
  • One (1) year of experience in a Softgel manufacturing environment.
  • Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the level of knowledge, skills, and experience needed to successfully perform the job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS

The essential functions of this job require the employee to perform the following physical activities during the course of work:

  • Communicates orally with management, employees, co-workers, vendors, suppliers, governmental compliance agencies, and the general public by telephone or in person, in one-on-one or group settings.
  • Required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time during the course of work shift.
  • Routinely required to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, and reach, pull, push and tilt object in the performance of job function.
  • Requires the essential use of hands, speech, eyesight, and hearing.
  • Lifting limitations for this position: 40-50 lbs. May have to manipulate heavier containers.
  • Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral and depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus as needed.
  • Noise level for this work environment is typically low to moderate. Some work areas require hearing protection for an 8-hour work day.
  • Periods of odoriferous environment.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Personal Protective Equipment provided as necessary.
  • Work environment may involve exposure to chemicals, solutions, detergents, or solvents that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Work environment may involve exposure to allergens such as Soy, Wheat, Fish, Shell Fish, Milk, Egg, Tree nuts, and Sesame.
