Position: Class-A CDL Truck Driver

FSLA Status: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

Location: Pooler, GA

Scope of the Role

The Class-A CDL Truck Driver plays a critical role in growing and developing our internal port drayage trucking operation. This position will operate with remote oversight, working directly under our Logistics & Transportation Manager. Additionally, this position’s workload will consist of assisting the manager with scheduling loads and coordinating empty container returns.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

• Effective and efficiently pull containers to and from the ports.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical and safety issues, ensuring to coordinate preventative maintenance when foreseeable issues arise.
• Support manager in planning container schedule for each day as well as empty returns.
• Communicate with dispatch or manager as needed.
• Meticulously maintain and manage working hours/mileage to ensure that we are staying within DOT regulations.
• Log and communicate the work that was done each day as well as any substantial issues that arose with the port or warehouse location that caused a delay.
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with BCP’s policies and procedures.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
• Collect and verify delivery instructions.
• Obtain signed POD for each load that is delivered to the warehouse.
• Report defects, accidents, or violations.
• Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Required Experience

• MUST HOLD VALID CLASS-A CDL, required.
• MUST HOLD VALID TWIC CARD, required.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must pass a background check and drug test.
• Must provide employment references.
• Minimum 3-5 years required experience proven work history as a Class-A truck driver.
• Has a clean driving record with no moving violations.
• No DUI/DWI convictions in the past seven years.
• Alert, focused, and detail oriented.
• Ability to sit in a truck and drive for a whole shift.
• Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer.
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
• Ability to work around expected and unexpected challenges that may impact driving conditions.
• Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful.
