Pay is based on experience starting at $16.25 - $17.30 per hour. This is a part-time position,19 hours or less per week.

Responsibilities:

Peer fellows will work collaboratively with the Jail team to provide support to BNC clients incarcerated and recently released with the re-entry process.

Some specific duties include but not limited to:

  • Provide peer support with navigating the treatment system. Some examples of this includes, accompanying client to meetings with probation and parole officers, court hearing and other legal appointments, connecting individuals to available housing resources and outpatient mental health treatment services, attending recovery meetings, accessing SUD outpatient treatment and other sober activities in the community and serve as a model of maintaining successful recovery in both substance use and mental health.
  • Facilitate weekly peer groups
  • Complete all paperwork and electronic medical record (EMR) entry associated with services provided as indicated.
  • Participate in weekly supervision and training.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Including but not limited to:

  • Bert Nash Center requires proof of Covid-19 immunization prior to starting any position. Covid-19 vaccine series must be completed or in process to be cleared for new hire orientation.
  • Lived experience with illness and recovery in mental health and substance use, incarceration, re-entry and has successfully navigated through the legal system with a resolve of all outstanding legal issues and is maintaining recovery in all three areas.
  • High School diploma or GED;
  • Ability to pass required security background checks;
  • Reliable transportation and a valid, unrestricted driver's license;
  • Be a consumer of behavioral health services
  • Thorough understanding of confidentiality and the unique issues that this entails in peer to peer relationship
  • Complete certification to provide peer support within 6 months of date of hire
