Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Production Manager, the Process Technician is responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing operations in assigned departments. The role of a Process Technician is to monitor and improve manufacturing and engineering processes. The Process Technician closely observes production employees in order to make sure that all equipment is being used properly and maintained to the correct standards. The Process Technician is responsible for evaluating and analyzing any resulting data in order to find ways to improve efficiency and quality. The versatility of skills for the Process Technician requires the ability to work in a variety of different projects from supply chain management to quality assurance to project management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing technical support to all projects, perform root cause analyses, and work to reduce any defects.
• Develop and provide support to the processes of production to improve processes that already exist.
• Monitor all processes with the goal of resolving any issues as efficiently as possible, reducing downtime.
• Collaborate with the Engineering Group, Maintenance Department, and Production Operations to install new equipment, improve processes, minimize downtime, increase production, and lower costs.
• Assist Production Supervisors with the day-to-day operation of the plant; collaborate with supervisors on employee relations issues.
• Ensure that all employees are fully compliant with all relevant safety rules and standards at all times.
• Collect and analyze all relevant data and use it to improve the processes of the work environment.
• Fill in for the Production Manager as assigned or required.
• Coordinate with the teams at all times while maintaining clear and open lines of communication.
• Responsible for tracking the training of operators and senior operators
• Perform other related functions and duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Above average to expert level extrusion, conversion, or maintenance skills with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Ability to influence people effectively and efficiently in order to meet production and organization goals.
• Ability to effectively manage complex, difficult, and emotional situations involving employees.
• Self-starter that uses initiative within established policies and procedural guidelines.
• Ability to multi-task and effectively manage rapidly changing priorities.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adhere to Berry’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Vision, Policy, and Standards.
• Work a day or night shift of 12 or more hours with a flexible work schedule including holidays and weekends.
• Ability to stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and crawl for extended periods multiple times per day.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to work in warm, humid, and cool climates.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, steel toe shoes/boots, face shield, and gloves.
• Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack; maintain a forklift operator license.
