Primary Purpose and Essential Duties This position will assess building mechanical and electrical systems while performing technical on site surveys and in office analysis on assigned projects. Analysis will include participation in technical studies, investigations and development of energy efficient and deferred maintenance scope on assigned projects. The Energy Systems Analyst will assist in the production of projects that are on-time, within-budget and meet the requirements of industry standards & codes and client specifications. The Energy Systems Analyst reports directly to the Energy Systems Analyst, Senior. Specific responsibilities include:
- Conducts site surveys to determine existing facility conditions either independently or with senior level staff/project manager. Assists in identifying and preparing energy efficient and deferred maintenance scope.
- Performs mechanical system calculations including load calculations, ventilation schedules, etc.
- Interacts in meetings with owners, clients, and/or architects as needed either independently or with senior level staff/project manager; prepares meeting notes.
- Designs and prepares drawings for mechanical systems for projects including duct and pipe sizing,
- Assists the development team in the coordination with other discipline including energy modeling, financial modeling, lighting, design, etc.
- Attends in-house and external training sessions to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas related to building systems.
- Participates in industry organizations and attends events, meetings, and activities.
- Upholds Bernhard's owner advocacy philosophy and organizational core values.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications - Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from a four year ABET accredited university.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills and aptitude.
- Required experience in Excel and Word.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written format.
- Ability to communicate effectively with facility managers and engineers.
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines while on survey.
- Ability to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to use technology and apps for collecting data while on survey.
- Passion for quality and client satisfaction.
Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications - Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE)
- Prefer 1-3 years of energy related client interface for an engineering design firm.
- Preferred experience with building energy services in the health and higher-education field.
- Experience with mechanical and electrical design drawings.
- Participation in industry organizations and attends events, meetings, and activities.
Travel Requirements - A valid driver's license is required.
- 25% - 50% travel required.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements - Able to walk, stand, climb , and kneel on job sites.
- Able to sit or stand at a desk for long periods of times.
- Able to lift up to 15 lbs.
