Job Opportunity:

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a motivated, self-directed individual to join our Casualty Home Office team offering broad exposure across all levels of a dynamic and rapidly growing global insurer. We are seeking a detail-oriented strategic thinker to assist in product leadership. Our preferred locations for this position are our Boston, Chicago or Atlanta offices. For the right candidate, we will also consider other BHSI office locations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Help lead profitable growth across product lines for General Casualty, Transportation, Products, and Energy:
  • analyzing financial results and developing portfolio strategies in response,
  • managing emerging issues by working closely with leadership in actuarial, legal, claims, operations, and loss control,
  • refining risk appetite and ensuring a consistent approach to guidelines,
  • consulting directly with field underwriters through a flat referral process, and
  • targeting/developing new product areas.
• Collaborate in the creation and amendment of policy language.
• Participate in all aspects of casualty underwriting training including developing content.

The ideal candidate will have strong skills in technical pricing for both primary and excess as well as policy language.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

• At least 10 years of Property & Casualty insurance experience
• Demonstrated integrity, passion for excellence, and collaboration across functions
• Strong interpersonal and relationship skills; ability to work in a team environment
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail
• Quick learner, flexible, and adaptable to changing environment
• Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and accompanying workflows
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals and teams
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft SharePoint
