Berkshire Hathaway Automotive is Hiring a Regional Controller Near Phoenix, AZ

Rare, immediate opening with the fast-paced, highly successful Berkshire Hathaway Automotive dealership group. The Western Regional Controller is based out of the Regional Corporate Office in Phoenix, Arizona. Ideal candidates will have successful Automotive Controller experience. The position requires strong leadership qualities with strengths in developing leaders, operational knowledge, asset management, and the identification of profit opportunities.

The West Region is comprised of 29 high-volume domestic and import dealerships in AZ, CA, and NM.

Overall Objectives and Responsibilities:

  • Manage risk and ensure accurate books and records by assuring adherence to all BHA policies.
  • Partner with other regional teammates to enhance operating performance by monitoring dealership financial results to identify areas of opportunity, as well as internal benchmarking; following through on operational initiatives and expense objectives to ensure action items are being appropriately addressed to ensure acceptable levels of operational performance; communication of best practices.
  • Responsible for the personal development of each of the controllers through ongoing communication, training, sharing best practices, setting benchmarks, challenging current results, and setting clear performance objectives.
  • Close involvement with controllers of underperforming locations monthly; periodic meetings with newer controllers and controllers not meeting performance expectations are crucial.
  • Retaining, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training new controllers and controller trainee candidates.
  • Oversight of the dealership’s month-end closing process to ensure timely closure and accurate financial statements.
  • Detailed involvement in acquisition planning, closing, and post-closing integration.

Qualifications:

  • Automotive Controller Experience (6 years preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.), MBA, CPA preferred
  • High competence with dealership management systems
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and enthusiastic presence in a team environment with the ability to lead and influence others
  • Financial Planning and Analysis experience with high competency in data analytics, business, and quantitative skills
  • Ability to be analytical, problem solve and multi-task
  • Experience building strong teams
  • Consistent and stable work history
  • 25% Travel is required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Professional appearance and work ethic
