Responsibilities:

We have an opportunity for an IT Project Manager to join our Berkley One team! As a partner to the business reporting into the CIO, you will drive the planning and execution of strategic programs and projects across Berkley One business units and serve as a key differentiator in execution excellence. You will manage a complex portfolio of projects, both technical and non-technical, that impact our core business capabilities. This role will partner closely with the IT Delivery Lead to ensure alignment between the IT and Business Delivery plans and manage any changes to scope, priority, and schedule. As a member of the PMO this role will also be responsible for the evolution/maturation of the project execution processes/capabilities of Berkley One.

Key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Lead strategic business projects that cross all levels and functions within Berkley One, in support of the ongoing growth and development of operational maturity
  • Manage multiple projects at a time, organizing cross-functional project teams using Berkley One program management standards, to drive execution excellence
  • Maintain the annual roadmap by working closely and collaboratively with Business Stakeholders and Execution Leads to understand business needs and scheduling challenges
  • Identify dependencies, risks and upcoming challenges and work to coordinate, mitigate and avoid project slippage
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and functional area leaders to define and refine business strategies into actionable items; developing business cases where necessary
  • Influence key stakeholders to create consensus and buy-in around project recommendations or risk mitigations
  • Regularly communicate and present project schedules, statuses, and updates to various team members ranging from junior to executive level
  • Perform project close-out steps to include identifying lessons learned/best practices to inform the success of future projects
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies throughout the project management lifecycle
  • Demonstrated expertise at maintaining and applying contemporary Project Management practices to advance Project Management at Berkley One while performing the role
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or PMP certification required
  • 3 years of relevant project management experience in the insurance industry, personal lines preferred
  • 3 years experience managing the delivery of business or technical solutions
  • Excellent Project Management skills including: planning, scoping, resource allocation and project tracking
  • An understanding of Agile (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) methodologies a plus
  • Incredible empathy and understanding of the needs of our customers, both insureds and their agents alike
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; a communication style flexible to the situation; and able to communicate clearly and with a purpose
  • Calm under pressure; you have exceptional organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks; you are comfortable challenging norms and recommending creative solutions
  • A strong sense of accountability and ownership
  • You are a master collaborator and systems thinker; able to bridge the gap between all functional areas; and understanding business priorities and execution constraints will be one of your superpowers
  • Natural curiosity; a love of learning how things work and always on the lookout for innovative improvements
  • Exceptional communication skills; your communication style is flexible to the situation and audience
