Berkins Family LLC is Hiring a Part-time Chef Th-Su Near Hartford, CT

We are looking for a professional Chef to play multiple roles in our kitchen, following specifications and guidelines aligned with our brand and desired quality of food. The successful candidate will employ their culinary and managerial skills in order to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers’ satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and design all food menus and follow recipes for existing food and drink options
  • Produce high quality, creative, dishes in both design and taste
  • Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality and time to prepare standards
  • Fill in for the Chef in other locations in terms of planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and work collaboratively and proactively to address any issues
  • Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule, assess staff performance providing positive and constructive feedback
  • Maintain schedules to order supplies and maintain stock inventory appropriately
  • Only feed people food you would, yourself, eat or serve your loved ones
  • Comply with and strictly enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards - keep a clean kitchen as much as possible
  • Maintain a positive, collaborative, respectful and professional approach always with coworkers and customers

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Chef
  • Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Excellent record of kitchen cleanliness and staff management
  • Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
  • Familiar with industry’s best practices and trends
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
  • Some professional Culinary science experience/degree or related certificate would be a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 24 per week
