Compensation: $25-$26.54 per hour

Position Summary
Under supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, the Facilities Maintenance Technician will perform a wide variety of maintenance and repair duties and provide operational support to all BFHP facilities. This is a hands-on position with responsibility for maintaining our facilities, janitorial needs, supervision of vendors and contractors, and assisting with compliance needs related to BFHP’s accreditation with Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) compliance standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform wide variety of repair, maintenance, and carpentry request orders generated through our ticketing system. This may include preventative maintenance or repairs of facilities, office equipment and furniture, light construction of shelves and doors etc.
  • Perform minor electrical and plumbing services.
  • Perform cleaning duties as assigned, most often personally and also through the supervision & oversight of staff or independent contractors.
  • Advise managers of maintenance concerns and ensure creation of work order requests.
  • Maintain technical and product knowledge on all equipment within the technician’s area of responsibilities.
  • Ensure proper communication with supervisor and Program Managers regarding status of work orders or any concerns identified.
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, supervising, and inspecting the work of staff or independent contractors engaged in the repair, maintenance, cleaning and upgrades of offices and facility equipment ensuring conformance with standard maintenance and repair procedures and state, county, and local building codes.
  • Set up and maintain HVAC systems, alarm systems, electricity (PG&E/SMUD), water and other services as may be needed for sites.
  • May assist with scheduling and inspecting the maintenance and routine upkeep of BFHP owned or leased buildings: including building interiors and exteriors. Including pedestrian walkways as specified in the leased properties
  • May assist the contracted IT support services company with setting up internet connections, phone systems, and other services as may be needed for all program sites.
  • May assist with maintenance and management of leased & owned vehicles working with the external service providers to ensure vehicles are well maintained, properly licensed, insured and that staff understand and follow safe driving protocols.
  • Under supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, order equipment and oversee the ordering of supplies per internal protocols to support facilities maintenance activities
  • Assist with annual reporting and inspections for all buildings operated by all BFHP programs.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory on all agency owned appliances in partnership with the Facilities Supervisor, Director of Operations, Director of Programs, and Program Managers.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Facilities Supervisor, assist with CARF accreditation and reaccreditation, ensuring compliance and goals are met consistently.
  • May assist with training new staff on emergency evacuation procedures, driving policy, and CARF trainings and drills.
  • Drive own or agency vehicle to the field and to other program sites, as required; documenting and reporting mileage according to agency procedures, so that services can be provided in a timely manner; comply with agency driving policy at all times.
  • Participate in promoting a safe, healthy, and clean working environment consistent with agency’s health and safety practices.
  • Attend and participate in all meetings and trainings as assigned.
  • Complete and submit timesheets in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work within the framework of BFHP’s Code of Conduct.
  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications,
Skills and Abilities
  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • 3 years’ demonstrated success working on a hands-on facilities maintenance capacity in multiple sites.
  • Ability to perform hands-on repairs, maintenance, carpentry, light plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Commitment to serving individuals experiencing homelessness, alcohol and drug dependency and other mental health issues.
  • Capacity to quickly learn and use Fresh Desk ticketing system, Microsoft Teams, and any other apps and platforms utilized by Facilities for daily operations. Must be able to work from a company phone and/or laptop, while in the field.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, initiative and follow-through, and be detailed oriented
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work in an orderly manner in a busy environment
  • Ability to interact in a supportive and professional manner with staff and clients of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Experience working in cross-departmental collaborative teams.
  • Must be able to exercise good critical thinking and judgment and be extremely solution oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a can do and flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, multitask, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct, attitude and appearance at all times.
Special Requirements
  • This position requires frequent driving. A valid California driver license, reliable personal vehicle, current personal auto insurance as required by law, and an MVR sufficient to obtain and reasonably maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies.
  • Must be able to receive and maintain criminal records clearance.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see clearly.
  • May be occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • May be required to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
