Position Summary 

Benson Hill is looking for a passionate and proven Agronomist to be a part of our Digital Farming team. Benson Hill has developed diverse soybean varieties with superior nutritional value and strong in-field performance that create value for growers and end-users. We are looking for a seasoned agronomist to support commercial and seed production growers while executing field scale testing programs of new Benson Hill products, with an emphasis on spatial data collection. The successful candidate will work across a diverse set of teams across the organization to meet business objectives and will have a solution-oriented mindset. 

You will be responsible for: 

• Agronomic scouting and technical support for Commercial and Seed Production acres
• Execution of field scale experimental programs including the in-field evaluation of new Benson Hill seed products and technologies 
• Management of the collection of farm and field level data from Benson Hill R&D and Commercial operations including those coming from new technologies for acquisition of unique data layers (i.e. drone, weather, soils, etc.) 
• Monitoring and measuring completeness and quality of data collection objectives throughout the season
• Partnering with internal teams to meet the field testing and data collection needs to support the Technology organization and Benson Hill Business Units’ key outcomes 
• Demonstration of value creation of Benson Hill products to drive new technology adoption 

Education and Experience: 

• MS degree preferred (minimum BS 3 years of experience) in agronomy, horticulture, crop physiology, weed science, pathology, plant breeding, precision agriculture, or related field 

Qualifications: 

• Experience working in agricultural industry
• Expertise in multiple crops, with emphasis on soybean and pulses 
• Deep understanding of agronomic management practices 
• Desire to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with the ability to be agile
• Excellent planner, organizer, critical thinker, and problem solver 
• Strong record of creative and strategic thinking with the willingness to be bold 
• Exceptional Excel and data systems knowledge 
• Knowledge of precision mapping platforms and techniques 
• Ability to travel up to 50% of time during peak windows of the North American growing season 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience with grower platforms such as FieldView, MyJohnDeere, and/or CropTrak. 
• Familiarity with experimental design and basic statistical analyses 
• Interest in high-throughput phenotyping, remote-sensing, and geospatial analytics
