Bennington Rutland Supervisory Union is Hiring a Paraeducator - Personal Care Assistant Near Manchester, VT

Job Description:
Manchester Elementary Middle School seeks a Paraeducator - Personal Care Assistant! The Paraeducator - Personal Care Assistant is assigned to provide 1:1 instructional, behavioral, and personal care support as per the student's Individualized Education Plan. As a positive and nurturing member of the school team, this position understands and attends to a variety of their assigned student's personal care, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Paraeducators work under the day-to-day direction of the staff member(s) supported, and under the direct supervision of the Principal. Teachers and/or special education personnel will provide specific directions and oversight for supervision and/or instructional support. The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience, compassion, and empathy when working with their assigned student, and professionalism when representing the school. To be successful, the Paraprofessional should have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: Highly Qualified Paraprofessional (HQP) through one of the following: -Associate degree -Successful completion (B-minus or better) -At least 48 credit hours from an accredited institution of higher learning -Successful completion of an approved paraprofessional assessment test required Completion of a state-approved Licensed Nursing Assistant program Holds a valid and current Vermont nursing license in the respective category of licensure with appropriate endorsement including but not limited to: Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA), Medication Nursing Assistant (MNA), or other similar credentials Current certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with automated external defibrillator (AED) and first aid. At least one (1) year of relevant experience working with children or individuals with special needs, preferably in a school or healthcare setting Copies of transcripts and license(s) must be uploaded to the application for all licensed positions. Successful applicants to Licensed positions will be required to provide official transcripts to Human Resources before completion of the hiring process. Preferences: Experience in working with Students with Disabilities is preferred.
