  • Job Title: Middle School ELA & Social Studies Master Teacher

Status: Exempt Non-Exempt Fulltime Part-time

  • SUMMARY
  • The Master Teacher oversees the professional development of teachers; oversees the planning, facilitation, and follow-up of cluster group meetings; and plays a major role on the schools TAP Leadership Team (TLT) relative to the analysis of school-wide data, and the development of the school's academic and assessment plans.

  • _ DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES _
  • Collaborates with teachers to develop exemplary lessons in the classrooms by providing guidance, assistance, and expert advice in the development of their lesson plans and instruction units.
  • Assists the school's administration in the following: o adoption of curriculum resources to be used by all teachers; o overseeing curriculum resources (including technology applications); o teacher performance evaluation; o development of the school's improvement plan (school-wide plan).
  • Interacts with students regularly through regular classroom teaching time; and conducting demonstration lessons to help teachers improve their classroom skills.
  • Actively participates in professional development activities such as the school's TLT meetings and other activities as determined by administration.

Leadership Team Participation/Facilitation

  • Supports Assistant Principals in overseeing overall TAP implementation (creating the school plan, monitoring goal setting, tracking student progress, and monitoring classroom follow- up and goal attainment for both cluster groups and Individual
  • Growth Plans).
  • Analyses student data to develop the school's academic and assessment plans
  • Assesses student achievement results/teacher evaluation results and maintain interrater reliability.

Research/Field-Testing

  • Locates research-based strategies that will support student achievement in the identified areas of student need as revealed from the analysis of data.
  • Conducts field-testing with selected strategies to determine their impact on student achievement, making necessary modifications, determining appropriate sequencing/segmenting and identifying necessary critical attributes to ensure their effective transfer from cluster to classrooms.

Cluster Group Planning and Implementation

  • Oversees, leads, plans and develops weekly cluster group agendas and activities using student achievement data (state tests, benchmark tests, teacher-made tests) and teacher evaluation data (refinement areas) to target specific focus areas.
  • Assesses all cluster group progress toward goals utilizing student data.
  • Ensures that the progression of teacher skill development is aligned with changing student learning needs.

Individual Growth Plan Management

  • Assists teachers in developing goals and tracking progress; and provides training, resources and support for meeting goals.
  • Models the "self-reflection" process and support teachers in focusing on student achievement and increased proficiency in teaching.

Evaluations and Conferencing

  • Conducts classroom evaluations (both announced and unannounced) according to district/state and TAP requirements.
  • Conducts appropriate pre-conferences for all announced evaluations; conducts appropriate post-conferences for all evaluations.

Classroom Follow-up

  • Provides support to career teachers based on cluster meetings, refinement areas from evaluations and IGP focus.
  • Provides observations and feedback, model teaching (demonstration lessons), team teaching, coaching, planning sessions, etc.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Demonstrated relevant work experience with high-level leaders such as CEOs, executive cabinet leaders, non-profit and/or community representatives or equivalent positions.

  • You must complete the new hire compliance mandatory trainings
  • Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check and fingerprint process. Selected candidates cannot begin work until passing their background check and fingerprint process.

Required Education and/or Experience
Qualifications
The qualifications listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor's degree and full credentials in the relevant academic discipline, master's degree preferred. Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience. Experience in content or curriculum development, student test/data analysis, mentoring, model teaching, and professional development.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
Eligible for Louisiana Teacher Certification or practitioner's license.
