Job Summary:
Provides direct and indirect patient care. Provides for personal care, comfort, assists with a safe and clean environment, and maintains equipment and supplies. Assists patients with activities of daily living and provides for personal care and emotional support.
FLSA:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
Provides patient care that meets the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient within the CNAs scope of practice.
Assists with patient admissions, discharge and transfers.
Provides vitals and other general care as necessary throughout the shift.
Answers patients' call lights, anticipates patients' needs and makes safety rounds of patients.
Transports patients to various departments.
Demonstrates the ability to perform procedures within the CNA scope of practice per state law.
Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, blood pressure and intake-output.
Reports patient complaint of pain to nurse.
Observes patient's mental and physical conditions, reports any changes to nurse.
Knowledgeable of sterile techniques and infection control procedures.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety
Communicates in a clear and concise manner.
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
Documentation meets current standards and policies.
Treat patient and families with respect and dignity.
Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.

Professional Requirements:
Adheres to dress code.
Completes annual educational requirements.
Maintains regulatory requirements.
Wears identification while on duty.
Maintains confidentiality at all times.
Attends department staff meetings as required within the department.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in designated time.
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
Coordinates efforts in meeting regulatory compliance, federal, state and local regulations and standards
Communicates and complies with the Benefis Health System Mission, Vision and Values as well as the focus statement of the department.
Complies with Benefis Health System Organization Policies and Procedures.
Complies with Health and Safety Standards and Guidelines.
Education Requirements:
Current CNA certification in the state of Montana.
BLS certificate.
