Benedictine College Preparatory is Hiring a Visual Arts Teacher Near Richmond, VA

Job Title: Visual Arts Teacher
FSLA Status: Exempt; Full-time
Work Hours: 10-month position; Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; some after-school events required
Position Start Date: August 2024
Salary Range: $40,500 - $45,000
The Benedictine Schools of Richmond are Catholic college preparatory high schools— Benedictine College Preparatory and Saint Gertrude High School—co-located on the 73-acre Benedictine Abbey campus in Richmond, Virginia. We provide a common Catholic culture, steeped in Benedictine values, that promotes the education of the whole person—body, mind and spirit.
The Benedictine Schools of Richmond seek an innovative, collaborative, high school visual arts teacher primarily for Benedictine College Preparatory. Experience preferred. This is a 10-month teaching position and faculty report to work in mid-August 2024.
Responsibilities
  • Teach college preparatory, honors, and possibly AP level courses in Fine Arts.
  • Instruct students in drawing, painting, sculpture and other 2D and 3D techniques.
  • Leads hands-on projects to give students practical experience in both traditional and digital mediums, including graphic design software and photography equipment.
  • Support the mission of the school, model its Benedictine values, and journey with students as they become confident, competent and compassionate men and women.
  • Utilize the school’s student information system to post assignments, units of study, and related course materials to support student self-initiative and self-advocacy.
  • Assume standard non-curricular responsibilities assigned to all faculty.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Photography or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in art education preferred.
  • Passionate about art and the ability to work in various 2D and 3D art forms.
  • Proficiency in film and darkroom photography techniques, and knowledge of graphic design software or digital photography.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
