Job Description

The Employer Relations and Career Development Manager provides employer and key stakeholder relationships utilizing excellent customer service and prompt responsiveness including and not limited to workshops, information sessions, tabletop sessions, career events, new employer onboarding (i.e. Handshake; career workshops including resume review, interview, elevator pitch; alumni lifelong development services/events). Knowledge and proficiency with CRMs i.e., Handshake, 12 Twenty, and other career management tools, advising models, career resources, and programs to innovatively enhance the career development and networking experiences of students and alumni. Establishes and maintains partnerships to include businesses and organizations for the placement of students in jobs, internships, and other experiential activities. High level of computer, excel, and technology, data collection and reporting comfort and proficiency.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

· Development and tracking of partnership and project engagement relative to career placement, development, and strategies, activities of students and employers.

· Develop and assist with content delivery, workshops, consulting services, workshop facilitation, work study or other student supervision, and program delegation or management.

· Reporting and data collection: relative to student career development, internships, first destination, and stakeholder partnerships, ensuring student engagement and success of career readiness, and successful career centered activities.

· Emphasis on ensuring student activities and success data is recorded, maintained, uploaded to meet required reporting tasks and timelines including but not limited to college, state, federal, and Commission on Higher Education grantee requirements.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting to the Executive Director works as a strategic manager, plans, executes, supervises, delegates, and implements activities to meet the career readiness of its students.

· Highly proficient in reporting and managing projects/ special projects.

· Leads and project manages signature annual career fair and owns student career events and annual including planning, logistics, execution, evaluation, follow-up, and event marketing.

· Manages employer relationships utilizing excellent customer service and responsiveness. Manages workshops, info sessions, tabletop sessions, career fairs/ events, new employer, or stakeholder onboarding (i.e., Handshake, career development workshops including resume review, interview, alumni lifelong development services, and events)

· Manager of career development and Handshake CRM utilization, fluent with reporting and data collection first destination or other and related career management systems, advising models, career resources, and programs to enhance networking and career development experiences of the students.

· Significant customer interactions: establishes employer partnerships to include businesses and organizations for the placement of students in jobs, internships, and other co-curricular or experiential learning activities.

· Supports recruitment and retention efforts of the college by coordinating and implementing career sessions for new, extending learning, and transferring students and families while also providing programming and workshops for students in enrollment and retention-related outreach campus events.

· Helps maintain, manage, coordinate Career Center operations including interns.

· General support of the mission of the college and Career Development Services by performing all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Outgoing, personable professional with work experience in career services or development or related functional areas within a college, business, or non-profit setting.

· Ability to use and learn career management and career development technology to assist students and contribute to the center’s assessment plan and evaluation.

· Uses knowledge of career, occupational, and employment information to guide students.

· Computer, data, reporting, and technology skills related to career counseling/advising including career planning, job search tools, resources, and career assessments (e.g., LinkedIn, MBTI, social media, computerized career guidance systems such as Handshake, Standout, and related tools)

· Event management: manages and coordinates large project career fairs and other in-person and virtual recruiting events.

· Experience creating and presenting educational workshops/programs.

· Innovative thinker and doer. Strong personal initiative.

· The ability to relate well with individuals, the ability to motivate, and possess experience in presenting workshops.

· Demonstrated interpersonal competence and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations including high-risk, marginalized populations.

· Proficient in technology to facilitate learning and efficient completion of tasks.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree.

· Successful experience in higher education, academic support services, student experience or business, non-profit, management, HR, workforce, career advising, or related.

· Strong computer proficiency, input, data, reporting, project management, communication, and presentation skills.

· Attention to detail, works with a sense of passion, purpose, energy, punctuality, and urgency.

· Goal-oriented, self-starter, ability to work effectively independently and in teams.

· Focused on measurable objectives and outcomes. Meets deadlines without follow-up.

· Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as necessary.

· Superior customer service skills and teammate.

· Commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment supportive of a public liberal arts mission.

· Successful background check is required.

PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:

· Master’s degree in business, Higher Education, HR, Student Affairs, Education, or a related field.

· Experience in program development, workforce, and career development.

· Professional Certifications including: CPCC, CESP, CPRW, CIC, CCSP; management, supervisory experience.

· Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Social Media experience.

· Strong Knowledge and understanding of employer relations or business development strategies.

· Experience designing content and delivering workshops and seminars.

· Understanding of corporate culture, strategy, and employee onboarding.

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
