Accounting Department Internship Program

Goal:

To begin the engagement process while accounting students are completing their degrees as this position in our organization is very difficult to fill. Once the student graduates, the objective is to have the intern go from a paid internship to a full-time employee.

Benderson Development is committed to providing our interns with the opportunity to learn their chosen field of study in a real-world business environment while completing their academic studies. Our program provides students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in the professional field they are considering for career paths. This program provides adequate, reliable, and regular supervision along with mentoring. We ensure interns are keeping pace and accomplishing goals through a professional network of individuals. We commit to meet with the intern on a regular basis to ensure we are meeting goals and objectives set at the beginning of the internship. Our mentors will provide professional growth, sharing of career knowledge and assist with networking in the field.

Compensation:

This is a paid internship. Hourly rate to be determined at the time of hire.

Academic Level:

Students specializing in Accounting who have completed 2 years of requisite courses.

Reporting Structure:

The intern will direct report to the appropriate Accounting Manager. Mentoring will be provided by various individuals within the Accounting Department.

Work Schedule:

40 hours per week for 8 weeks starting the 2^nd week of June with the potential to work as available during the school year.

Job Duties/Learning Opportunities:

• Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Analyze accounts and prepare work papers in good format and financial statements with footnotes as required on a monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis in conformity with company policies and accounting principles.
• Assist in preparing monthly bank reconciliations.
• Work on special projects.
• Work with other departments throughout the company to review data for accuracy and to gain an understanding of the transactions occurring.

Other tasks can be addressed on an as requested basis.
