Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Department: Benchmark Foam Inc. Reports To: Equipment/Facilities Manager

Summary: Performs equipment and plant maintenance. Consistently acts as a representative of Benchmark Foam by personifying the company’s On-Time Delivery Guarantee.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Benchmark Foam operates on the principle of effective teamwork. Other duties may be assigned, including cross-training and/or working in other departments.

Performs plant maintenance by adhering to scheduled maintenance procedures. Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Performs electrical trouble-shooting and makes recommendation for repairs (including PLC’s as needed). Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Repair automated machinery. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.

Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools. Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
Job Specific Competencies:
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Training and/or experience preferred in some or all of the following: robotics, machining, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations involving a variety of solutions.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer software/hardware.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current South Dakota Class 1 - Car/Light Truck Driver's License. National Career Readiness Certificate preferred.

Tools: Some personal tools required.
