Belvidere Park District is Hiring an Athletic Coordinator Near Belvidere, IL

Job Summary: The Athletic Coordinator is a year round, part-time position responsible for the hands on coordination and supervision of athletic sports programs as assigned. The Athletic Coordinator reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor - Athletics.

General Hours: This position works on-site during specific programs, leagues, camps and clinics. Shifts will vary depending on the season, month, day or time. Shifts can fluctuate depending on a particular class or league includes nights, weekends and midweek hours. This position can be scheduled up to a maximum of 18 hours per week and is not to exceed 960 hours during an anniversary year.

Essential Functions:

v Responsible for set-up, take down and/or implementing athletic programs, leagues, camps and clinics.

v Enforce rules, policies, and regulations.

v Secure all recreation equipment and supplies necessary for athletic programs

v Monitor all athletic programs and special events.

v Regularly monitor the condition of the athletic programs, equipment and facilities.

v Supervise athletic workers.

v Work the specific program when necessary by direction of the Recreation Supervisor.

v Communicate with Recreation Supervisor-Athletic about ongoing facility, personnel, and general operations matters.

v Notify Recreation Supervisor of any changes, problems, or emergencies.

v Inspect and maintain all athletic equipment.

v Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions.

v Represent the Belvidere Township Park District in a positive and professional manner.

v Complete all paperwork required, keep organized and submit on a timely basis.

v Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures as designated by the Park District.

v Responsible for providing, reporting and documenting all injury, illness and health information required by the Park District.

v Actively support the safety policies and related programs including following safety rules, first-aid procedures, and reporting accidents & injuries when necessary.

v Follow payroll procedures as designated by the Park District.

v Consistent on-time attendance.

v Performs other work-related duties and functions as assigned.

Marginal Functions:

v Assist in developing and creating inspiring lesson plans for each sports program.

v Assist in interpreting customer needs and delivering programs and services to meet those needs.

v Assist Recreation Supervisor with preparing and providing accurate, specific and measurable evaluations.

v Assist Recreation Supervisor with ongoing facility, personnel, and general operation evaluations.

v Assist with any physical setup/take down when needed.

v Assist in the successful inclusion of special needs participants.

v May be required to complete tasks outside of normal work hours.

v Assist with grievances from patrons.

v Assist coordinating and delegating athletic duties to Athletic Workers.

v Occasionally responsible for opening and closing of facilities being used.

v Attend all staff meetings and trainings.

v General work area is outdoors and indoors. May have to work in several environmental extremes, typical with working in the Midwest climate.

v May stand for periods of time; walk, run, push, pull and reach; occasionally bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance and stretch.

v May sit for periods of time at desk in front of computer monitor.

v Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a keyboard, calculator, photocopier and telephone.

v Have full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items and packages.

v Lifting requirements should not exceed 50 lbs without assistance.

v Have a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriately in person and in writing.

v Specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.

Environmental Considerations:

v May have potential exposure to chronic infectious diseases.

v May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions which may include cold, heat, rain, various degrees of humidity and lighting.

Cognitive Considerations:

v Ability to lead and give clear, concise directions to participants and staff.

v Must exhibit good problem solving ability and good judgement.

Education, Experience, and Training:

v Must be at least 18 years of age.

v High School Diploma or equivalent required.

v Must have extensive knowledge and ability to teach multiple sports

v Ability to work with children of all ages, abilities and experience levels

v Ability to lead and give clear, concise directions to participants and staff.

v One to two years of supervisory experience in recreation sports, athletics or related fields.

v Prior experience in planning, organizing, and leading activities.

v Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.

v Medic First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (or the equivalent) is required within 30 days of hire date. If you are not already certified, training will be provided.

v Successful background check.
