Position Summary: The ATIP Coordinator is responsible for providing intensive, individualized Tier 3 support to students who exhibit truancy-related issues, serving as the school attendance expert, supporting school’s development and implementation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports and providing professional development. The ATIP coordinator works cooperatively with school leaders, staff, support departments, Project Go, The Department of Human Services, and other agencies to effectively intervene and decrease/eliminate student truancy. This is a 11-month position, with an end of July start date, that reports to the Director of MTSS.
Core Responsibilities:
Daily Attendance Management:
Conduct tier 1 outreach for accurate tracking
Create and disseminate attendance-related communications to families
Tiered Attendance Support:
Provide tier 2 attendance support through facilitation of monthly check-ins with relevant departments (sped, FSS/SSC, ops, culture)
Lead Tier 3 case management for students and families by collaborating with staff, community agencies, Project Go, and all stakeholders in the students life.
Monitoring and Intervention:
Monitor extreme tardiness and absenteeism
Conduct home visits and support outreach efforts
Facilitate SAICs to create individual SAIPs
Positive Attendance Culture:
Collaborate with culture, leadership, team leads, and families to create a positive attendance culture in the school
Implement initiatives like attendance bulletin boards, competitions, recognitions, etc. for students and families
Preventative Measures:
Work with teachers and staff to implement absence mitigation strategies
Conduct proactive home visits in August for school readiness
Attendance Data Analysis and Staff Education:
Gather, research, and analyze attendance data
Identify trends and support school teams with identifying Tier 1 & Tier 2 attendance supports
Organize staff education on attendance policies
Deliver professional development presentations on attendance intervention supports
Communicate attendance data regularly with school staff
Establish cooperative and innovative approaches to solve truancy issues
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain knowledge of state, local, and BCN guidelines on attendance and truancy
Refer students with exceptional problems to school social workers (FSS) and administration
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
High school and or associate's degree
At least five (3) years prior experience in an urban school/community environment.
Valid PA Drivers License
Sensitivity to issues and concerns of marginalized communities
Knowledge of federal, state and city attendance rules and regulations
Ability to effectively communicate with youth and guardians
Experience in intervention programs or strategies effective with truant youth
Ability to react calmly and quickly in an emergency
