Position Overview: 

The Financial Planning and Analysis Manager will report to the Chief Financial Officer and be responsible for leading Bellwether’s strategic financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. This role will work closely with department leads and executives including Bellwether’s Controller, Director of Asset Management, and Director of IT to establish and manage key financial performance indicators, build and manage department budgets, and provide financial insights and reports to support strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, working knowledge of GAAP, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to Bellwether’s mission.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, Hybrid Onsite 3 days per week.

Your Impact:  

  • Oversee the organization’s annual budgeting process, in extensive collaboration with a variety of stakeholders including department heads, asset management, and property management. 
  • Develop and maintain budgeting tools including a model to consolidate all property and department budgets into enterprise-level results. (Approximately 40 property budgets and 15 department budgets, with varying degrees of complexity.) 
  • Prepare and manage multi-year cash flow projections for informed, efficient decision-making. 
  • Maintain and report on key financial performance indicators. 
  • Prepare reports for the CFO to present to organizational leadership and the board of directors on financial performance and forecasts. 
  • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement. 
  • Make recommendations and provide ad-hoc analysis and actionable insights to leadership to support cost savings goals and strategies. 

Requirements

Who You Are:  

  • You’ve got a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field - required 
  • Demonstrated success in a Financial Planning and Analysis or similar function, with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
  • Real estate and affordable housing sector experience is highly preferred 
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Working knowledge of Yardi would be a strong plus 
  • Excellent demonstrated analytical and financial problem-solving skills 
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to understand business goals and recommend innovative approaches to effect continual improvements to meet business objectives 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills required to successfully manage multiple projects from beginning to end; deadline-driven and self-motivated 
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills: polished, and concise, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-experts and the ability to build strong relationships across all organizational functions
