Description

Forklift Driver-Swing Shift

***$2000 Signing bonus***

Bellingham Cold Storage is looking for new full-time team members to join our industry-leading cold chain logistics company. Based in Bellingham, WA for over 75 years, we own and manage several warehouse locations including the largest portside cold storage facility on the West Coast.

Forklift drivers on swing shift at Bellingham Cold Storage operate powered industrial equipment such as, but not limited to, sit-down and stand-up forklifts, picker equipment and pallet jacks. During the training period, forklift drivers may rotate through day and swing shift but will ultimately be assigned to swing shift. Forklift drivers can expect to work up to 12-hour shifts Monday-Sunday based on operational need.

What do Forklift drivers do?

  • Operate electric or gas forklifts to load and unload trucks, ships, railcars, and containers
  • Warehouse fresh and frozen product in racking systems or by free staking pallets
  • Operate handheld RF scanners
  • Check load and counts of inbound and outbound product to ensure accuracy
  • Routinely communicate with team members to minimize truck wait times, to report issues and to complete tasks on time as assigned
  • Conduct daily safety inspections of powered industrial equipment prior to use
  • Able to quickly learn new computer systems and understand basic inventory and warehousing principles

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for lengthy periods of time
  • Move multiple cases by hand, weighing up to 50 lbs. above and below shoulder level for extended periods of time without the use of mechanical assistance over short distances
  • Work in very cold environments with temperatures ranging from 32 F to -20 F for extended periods of time
  • Walk on uneven and often wet cement floors
  • Perform work in spaces with 55 inches of headroom

Wages and hours

$18.57-22.50 per hour DOE

  • Wage Increases are based on hours worked with annual increases every Jan. 1st
    $18.57 per hour for the first 1600 hours
    $20.00 per hour for hours from 1601-2400 hours
    $21.39 per hour for hours from 2401-7000
    $22.50 per hour for hours over 7000
  • Paid overtime for hours worked in excess of 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week
  • Paid time off accruals starting on day one with the potential to earn up to 5 weeks’ vacation a year
  • Work will be performed at both our Roeder Avenue and Orchard Drive warehouses on swing shift
  • Swing shift differential of $0.50 per hour
