REPORTS TO: Head of School

STATUS: Salaried

DIRECT REPORTS: No

SALARY: $90-100K (commensurate with education & experience)

About BCA

Bellevue Children’s Academy is a private school for children in Preschool through 4th grade with an. Our students are academically advanced, working one to two grade levels ahead of state expectations. Our curriculum is set against international standards, not state standards, further preparing our children to be dynamic and advanced thinkers and learners. BCA is a member of the International Schools Partnership (ISP).

Purpose of Role

We are looking for a “hands-on roll-up their sleeves” Director of Learning (DOL) to work at BCA. Under the direction of the Head of School for Willows Preparatory School, the Director, Curriculum will support various aspects of our curriculum and teacher development.

The displays a strong sense of ownership and is fully committed to being “on-the ground” as a learning leader. In addition, this individual is team-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to take an active role in promoting a positive culture of positive engagement and school connectedness for our teachers and students to support the school’s aim of being the school and employer of choice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learning Improvement Process (LIP): Using the nine criteria as a lens for continual school improvement.
  • Leading the Learning: Using learning observations, design, and inquiry visits to identify best practice for high impact learning lessons and create action plans for improvement.
  • Learning Visits: Facilitate the scheduling of and ensure faculty reflect upon their impact on learning and develop learning targets for continuous improvement.
  • Professional Development / Leading Inservice sessions for Staff development: to identify key areas of focus for PD opportunities and to act as a resource for faculty interested in growing as individuals and teams, and to offer in-service sessions to help faculty acquire new insights, understanding and skills to positively impact the learning of their pupils.
  • Technology Integration and Innovation: to look critically at the school´s technology offer and determine short and long-term plans for the use of technology to improve learning, such as new developments in AI, blended learning, etc.
  • Data Collection and Interpretation to Improve the Academic Offering: to drive teams to collect and triangulate data to inform instructional changes to improve learning, such as target setting and program review.
  • Guide Teacher Leaders Oversee PS through 4th grade curriculum implementation. Meet with Grade/Subject Leads weekly to collaborate and drive instructional practices.
  • Accreditation: Collaborate with Head of School regarding action plans and progress towards goals, as well as seeking and maintaining accreditation.
  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, work with team on the following:
    • Curricular needs - new program training and implementation
    • Grade/Subject Leads
    • Academic Outcomes Presentations
    • Curriculum/Textbooks/Subscriptions
    • Pilots, purchasing, implementation, ongoing support
    • New Teacher Support

Experience and Requirements

  • M.Ed.: Educational Leadership, Instructional Leadership, or similar areas of study or Ed.D.: Leadership for Learning Principal or Program Administrator Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years (ES, MS, HS) campus level administrative experience as an assistant principal, dean of instruction or a similar role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
