Bellevue Boys & Girls Club is Hiring a Specialty Camp Staff - Cooking Camp Near Bellevue, WA

Part-Time to Full-Time (25 to 40 hours per week)


Salary Range
: $22.00 to $24.00 hourly

What You Will Do:

As a Specialty Camp Staff in the area of Cooking, you get to inspire, plan and lead young chefs grades 1-6! Over the course of the summer, you will lead courses in nutrition, baking, gourmet cooking, exploring foods from different cultures, and more!

A Specialty Camp Staff is a self-motivated and positive individual who can balance an energetic, fun youth focused atmosphere with professionalism and maturity. You will serve as a role model for all Club Members and are expected to lead with excellence.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, coordinate and implement daily activities for youth for weekly Cooking Camp.
  • Create age-appropriate lesson plans that combine skills to create healthy habits for youth along with daily cooking activities.
  • Create a cookbook with each group as a take home project; other projects are also encouraged.
  • Create weekly supply lists and submit it to the Specialty Camp director on specified dates.
  • Ensure that you are aware of any allergies of youth that are enrolled in the program and make necessary adjustments to lesson plans.
  • Maintain daily attendance and notify the Specialty Camp Director when children are absent.
  • Comply with the Policies and Procedures of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue.
  • Walk with members to attend field trips/programs as necessary.
  • Assist with the implementation and enforcement of safety policies/procedures regarding participant safety, risk-management, and building security.
  • Assist with the up keep of Club maintenance and appearance. Make sure all aspects of the space are clean and prepared for food prep.
  • Be prompt when arriving to work and communicate with supervisor when tardy or absent.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience working with youth, parents/guardians, and community partners
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma
  • Have a valid food handler’s card. – we can provide this for them.
  • Must pass National Background Check


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Six months to a year of previous experience working in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development setting
  • Experience teaching cooking
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin is a plus
  • Preferred availability: Flexible based on assigned position

COVID INFORMATION:

  • All Club staff, volunteers, and anyone that enters the Club facilities will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. A person is considered fully-vaccinated two weeks after having all does of a vaccine (2 doses for Pfizer, Moderna; 1 dose for Johnson & Johnson).
