Position: Temporary Security Officer

Job Overview:

Bellarmine is seeking a Security Officer to be part of the team that ensures the safety and security of students, staff and visitors within the Bellarmine premises. The role requires a strong sense of responsibility, integrity and a commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment. This is a temporary, full-time position, and the shift covers Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Core Functions and Duties:

• Apply Bellarmine safety standards and procedures.
• Support compliance with access control procedures (eg. gates, locks, keys, codes, etc.).
• Oversee parking and enforce policies.
• Provide security escorts when needed.
• Utilize effective communication and de-escalation techniques to resolve issues peacefully.
• Create incident reports in Bellarmine’s security reporting database.
• Work with outside agencies (e.g. Police Department, Fire Department, etc.) when needed.
• Support school administrators regarding specific security concerns affecting normal operations.
• Respond to email support tickets regarding safety and security issues.
• Contribute to the completion of security tasks within facilities projects.
• Inspect, clean, organize, maintain and properly store equipment and supplies.
• Monitor and respond to communication channels including radio, text, email and phone.
• Provide a visible presence to the Bellarmine community.
• Operate camera surveillance equipment.
• Participate in the school’s emergency response plans.
• Present a professional image with your appearance, speech and behavior.
• Wear the uniform provided and safety gear.
• Support the members of your team.

Competencies/Qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs. and climb onto ladders.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

Desired Competencies/Qualifications:

• Associates degree or professional certifications.
• Minimum of 4 years of security or law enforcement experience.
• Knowledge of Hazmat and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
• Certification in First Aid, CPR and AED use.

• Hourly range: $19.30 - $21.10
