Position: Veterinary Clinic Receptionist
Reports To: Practice Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt, Full Time

JOB DESCRIPTION
BASIC PURPOSE: The Bella SPCA Veterinary Hospital receptionist is responsible for being the first point of contact for clients entering the clinic. In addition to providing excellent customer service to clients and ensuring that front desk operations run smoothly, the receptionist will act as the primary greeter when a client enters the waiting room with their pet, alerts the appropriate technician or veterinarian of the client’s arrival, and processes the client’s payment after the appointment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide customer service such as greet customers, answering questions, process incoming patients, and handling payments
· Answer phone calls, which may involve answering questions and screening and scheduling appointments
· Handle incoming and outgoing mail and email
· Update and file patient charts
· Enter data into a computerized billing program
· Process credit card payments and reconcile cash drawer
· Retrieve prescriptions
· Assist with pet supply purchases
· Maintain the cleanliness of the waiting room
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Education:
o High school diploma or equivalent
· Experience:
o Customer service experience required
o Minimum 2-year receptionist experience required
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Skills:
o Hard skills: Microsoft Excel; Email; Internet Explorer
o Soft Skills: Must be able to make decisions and work independently. Strong customer service skills.
· Other requirements:
o Valid Driver’s License
o Occasional lifting
o Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
o Requires normal range of hearing and vision
