Job Summary:

The Accounting Analyst executes the daily, monthly and annual accounting functions in the agency.

Primary Duties:

• Develop, implement and continually evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting procedures and banking activities. Provide recommendations for changes/improvements when required.
• Ensure proper accounting methods, policies and principles are being used correctly.
• Ensure internal controls are adhered to based on recommendations of auditors.
• Review cash positions and bank activity daily and ensure adequate funds are available for accounting transactions.
• Liaison with bank accounting department for any information they need.
• Follow up with companies/advisors if commission is not received on direct bill policies.
• Review asset inventory and monthly depreciation, if any.
• Stay current, research and review any law changes or pending legislation relating to financial reporting, accounting processes and tax implications.
• Annual budget preparation by working with insurance management on assessing revenues and expenditures, and preparing financial reports and budget spreadsheets monthly for insurance and bank management.
• Prepare reports for Producer Sales and Annual Employee meetings.
• Prepare monthly and annual Producer Progress reports.
• Process month and year end financial reports and initiate month end close process.
• Review all bank statements and accounts and reconcile.
• Prepare information for Best Practices report annually and Marsh Berry quarterly, and review peer report when received.
• Liaison with Bank IT department on any issues and new employee setup.
• Participate in Applied and EPIC newsgroups and focus groups.
• Review bi-weekly payroll and prepare journal entries.
• Prepare monthly producer/staff bonuses and all accompanying spreadsheets. Get approval, send spreadsheet to Bell payroll.
• Calculate producer compensation and bonus amounts at year end based on production reports.
• Serve as backup for all Accounting Assistant duties as needed.
• Know by name and face as many customers and employees as possible, calling them by name as often as possible.

• Know, understand, and live the company values and bottom line.
• Conduct activities consistent with established Bell Bank policies, procedures and systems, the Bell Bank Employee Conduct policies, the Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
• All employees are responsible for information security, including compliance with policies and standards which protect sensitive information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Skills Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field.
• 3 to 5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong overall computer and technical software skills.
• Experience working with data and using systems to create more efficient processes.
• Proactive response to research answers to inaccuracies or issues.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
