Job Title: Studio Technician

Belger Arts locations: Belger Crane Yard Studios and the Belger Arts Center

Please note: This position requires the ability to drive between locations. All locations are within two miles of each other.

Supervisor: Studio Manager

Job Description: The Studio Technician works closely with the Studio Manager in the upkeep and operations of the ceramics studios, including of equipment, chemicals, cleanliness and kiln firings, and assisting with preparation of Belger Arts educational programs. The Studio Technician works with Belger Arts staff, studio members and renters, resident artists, and class participants. Duties and hours vary daily depending on programming and studio needs.

Work Week Hours: 18-28 hours/week (part-time)

Start Date: Immediately

Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Job Responsibilities:

• Monitor studio, trouble-shoot, and answer questions;
• Mix reclaimed clay;
• Clay portioning/bagging;
• General cleaning (mopping, laundry, etc.);
• Glaze Room material stocking;
• Kiln turnover (bisque and glaze kilns);
• Date Night class pottery processing
• Repair ceramics equipment as needed (kilns, wheels, etc);
• All other duties as assigned.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Google Workplace (including Google Docs, Sheets, etc.);
• Ability to drive to all Belger Arts locations;
• Valid driver’s license.

Job Qualifications:

• BFA in Ceramics, or equivalent experience (must have knowledge of core ceramic materials & processes);
• Ability to operate and/or learn how to operate a forklift/pallet jack;
• Experience repairing ceramics equipment is preferred;
• Available to work evenings and weekends;
• Self-motivated.

• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
