Join our team at Behavioral Services of Louisiana, LLC, as a Child Peer Support Specialist. We are a part of the Family Support Organization, dedicated to providing comprehensive support to children and families. This role is crucial in assisting our clients in developing treatment goals, enhancing social skills, and improving their overall functioning. We are looking for empathetic individuals who have personal experience with mental health services and are passionate about helping others on their recovery journey.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual Peer Support Specialist services in the community.
  • Assist clients in developing treatment goals within the first 30 days of service.
  • Help clients restore and develop social and interpersonal skills.
  • Identify and enhance support networks, community awareness, and coping strategies.
  • Assist in the development of daily living skills.
  • Help clients manage the negative effects of psychiatric or emotional symptoms.
  • Assist clients in identifying and responding to triggers that lead to functional impairments.
  • Implement Peer Support Plan on an ongoing basis.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings with Behavioral Health Services staff and other community supports as needed.
  • Communicate client's status regularly, including changes in mood or functioning, medical issues, and all crisis and health and safety issues.
  • Produce effective, clinical documentation of every contact with recipient.
  • Attend all office trainings and regular clinical supervision sessions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Self-identify as a current or former consumer of mental health services.
  • Demonstrate a minimum of 6 months in self-directed recovery within the last year.
  • Self-identify as a first degree family member.
  • Ability to use computer interface for documentation and billing purposes.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
