Job Description: School Psychologist

Position Overview:

We seek a dedicated and compassionate School Psychologist Contractor to support our team. As a School Psychologist Contractor, you can provide essential services and expertise on a contractual basis. Your role will involve supporting students, parents, and teachers in addressing academic, social, emotional, and behavioral challenges and contributing to our students' overall well-being and success.

 Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments: Administer and interpret various psychological and educational assessments to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, and specific learning needs.
  • Provide intervention strategies: Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to address academic, social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement appropriate student support plans.
  • Support special education process: Participate in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process by providing assessment data, attending meetings, and contributing to developing appropriate goals and services.
  • Counseling and guidance: Provide individual and group counseling to students, focusing on social-emotional development, conflict resolution, and coping skills.
  • Crisis intervention: Offer immediate support during crises, such as student emergencies or traumatic events, by providing counseling, coordinating resources, and implementing safety plans.
  • Consultation and training: Provide consultation and professional development to teachers and staff on behavior management, effective learning strategies, and mental health awareness.
  • Data analysis and reporting: Collect and analyze data to track student progress, evaluate program effectiveness, and generate reports as required.
  • Stay current with best practices: Keep up-to-date with research and best practices in school psychology, and incorporate this knowledge into your work.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A master's degree or higher in School Psychology or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certification: Hold a valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Psychology issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Experience: Previous experience working as a School Psychologist, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of psychological assessment and intervention techniques, special education laws and regulations, and ethical guidelines for professional practice.
  • Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Empathy and compassion: Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with students and provide support in a caring and empathetic manner.
  • Problem-solving skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess complex situations and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing needs and work effectively in a fast-paced educational environment.

Job Type: Contractor

Salary: $55- $60 per hour
