Behavior Reimagined is Hiring a Behavior Technician: Mornings and Afternoons Berkeley/Oakland/Castro Valley Near Berkeley, CA

* We need new or existing behavior technicians who can be available for in person services weekdays. We currently require someone to work with clients weekday mornings and afternoons in Berkeley, Oakland, and Castro Valley (must be willing and able to commute between these areas, and have both weekday mornings and afternoons available for sessions)

Our Behavior Technicians help children and young adults improve their quality of life by learning or unlearning behaviors.

At a minimum, we would like all applicants to have enough experience, personal or professional, interacting with children that they know for themselves whether or not they would enjoy a role where they play games with, and engage in conversation with, children. Our clients are learning to manage difficult behaviors, please be prepared to support them in this should you choose to apply.

Experience interacting with individuals with Autism or other developmental disabilities is very useful to us, please let us know if you have such experience.

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are available to commute self to work locations in Berkeley, Oakland, Castro Valley and other nearby locations as needed in order to serve our clients in their homes and classrooms, at least 3 days per week during our primary hours (8AM-6PM), or can mix/match a combination of days that results in availability for scheduling at least 3 mornings and 3 afternoons weekly.
  • Are comfortable interacting with children/young adults, and can remain empathetic in the event of difficult behaviors (for example, when a young child is experiencing a tantrum)
  • Have experience working with or are comfortable learning to work with individuals diagnosed with a developmental disability
  • Have a desire to learn and to help others, and want to work in an environment where learning and helping others is part of the workplace culture
  • Are reliable, professional, and good at keeping their appointments
  • Have their own car, valid driver's license, and are comfortable commuting to some of the areas we service, which include areas in and around: Richmond, Berkeley, Oakland, Hayward, Castro Valley, Walnut Creek. (required)
  • Have at minimum a high school degree or equivalent (required)
  • Are vaccinated and either boosted, or willing to get boosted against Covid-19 prior to employment (required - no exceptions)

As a Behavior Technician, you will be paired with nearby clients (children or young adults with developmental disabilities), and will travel to those clients' homes and schools, located within our service area, providing naturalistic, play based therapy. You will work with the client , their parents/guardians, our team of supervisors, and other Behavior Technicians in this role. Our case supervisors will work with you to identify each client's goals, and help you to identify which strategies will help the client achieve those goals. We will provide the (paid) training, help you on your path to earn your Registered Behavior Technician certification, and pair you with clients that are the best fit for you.

  • Pay starts at $22 to $27 an hour*
  • We offer Health Care, Dental, 401k and other benefits
  • Payroll services are provided through ADP, a trusted and reliable payroll service provider with convenient features for our employees

*Employees who complete their onboarding goals and RBT training on schedule are eligible for an additional $1.00 per hour to be added to their base hourly wage once all objectives are completed.

Our mission is to help people change their challenging behaviors, which means we need to have some good behaviors established ourselves. We want our potential employees to:

  • Interact with others in a friendly, professional manner
  • Communicate clearly, effectively and proactively
  • Take responsibility for completing their online training and to know to ask us for help when they need it
  • Be responsible for keeping their appointments, and arriving to client locations on time and ready to work
  • Understand how to stay calm and de-escalate situations when presented with challenging behaviors
  • Be respectful of other's privacy, and the to honor the rules we follow that protect our client's privacy (HIPAA)
  • Be able to receive feedback, and be willing to make changes based on feedback

Are you a match for this role?

This is a part time role (not a temporary or seasonal role). The amount of hours we can schedule a Behavior technician is based on both when our clients require care, and how many cases a Behavior Technician is able to manage while still performing high quality services. If your availability to provide in-person services lines up with the needs of our clients, it will be easier to pair you with clients and to schedule more hours for you. If you will not be available when we serve clients, we we not be able to find a position for you. Our client's typically look for sessions weekdays between 8AM-6PM, but some also seek services on weekends.

Our clients are located throughout the East bay and are updated frequently. Our current areas of service include, San Pablo, Berkeley, Richmond, Oakland, Hayward and Walnut Creek, to name a few. We work hard to pair our Behavior Technicians with clients close to where they live, but we do need our employees to be able and willing to drive to nearby cities to see out clients. If you do not have full access to a motor vehicle and the appropriate license to drive it, we will not be able to consider you for this position at this time.

This is an in-person position. All of our Behavior Technicians must live within commuting distance of their clients. If you are not located in, or, within a reasonable commute of, our service area, we would be unable to pair you with our clients. We are happy to provide mileage reimbursement to our employees for work based travel from one work location to another work location. When determining what is a reasonable commute for you, please consider that travel from your home to the work site, and to your home from the work site, including tolls, is not reimbursed.

This role involves working with children in their homes and schools and requires a background check.

If you are still interested, and you meet the requirements we've stated above, please apply! We are always especially excited to speak to candidates with degrees, experience, interests, or goals related to:
