Description:

The BCBA will provide support to individuals and their families by coordinating and providing services in Applied Behavior Analysis, function analyses and assessment, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures, and adaptive life skills. A BCBA will also oversee programming of associate behavior analysts and provide ongoing support and supervision to Direct Support Professionals (DSP) as it relates to the implementation and documentation associated with Behavior Support Plans. 

Responsibilities:

Evaluates students to determine individual student needs.

Attends Team meetings and writes behavior goals and objectives for IEP's.

Develops and oversees behavioral programming within therapeutic settings in the district.

Conducts initial and ongoing training for paraprofessionals.

Collects data from paraprofessionals and to chart student progress.

Completes Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), and writes Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).

Trains and supports staff to complete FBA's and BIP's.

Provides consultation and/or professional development for faculty as needed.

Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.

Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so.

Continues with personal professional development.

Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Must possess the ability to:

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of state and professional standards for behavior management and the implementation of applied behavioral analysis.

Carry out assessment and evaluation procedures for referred students in accordance with special education regulations and local procedures.

Plan and develop therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant and able to be used in students’ educational and home programs.

Establish and maintain a system of documentation that is professional, efficient, and accountable and consistent with state and district policy.

Manage the facilities, materials and equipment, including assistive technology, necessary to the delivery of services.

Communicate results of evaluations and reports regarding social/emotional and behavior services to the educational staff, parents, and, when appropriate, students and other professionals and agencies.

Attend staffing meetings, IEP reviews, and other school meetings when requested.

Facilitate in-service education and professional development for related service staff, teaching assistants, and special education and general education staff.

Engage in continuing education and professional growth activities related to understanding and servicing children with social/emotional and behavioral challenges.

Provide consultation to the education system regarding student needs, professional needs, and system needs.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor, building principal, and/or special education director or designee.

Additional Information:

Master’s Degree Preferred

Board Certification as a BCBA required

Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have a high level of capability with technology

Must be knowledgeable regarding public school expectations, standards, and instructional practices
