Description

Position Summary

The Warehouse Receiving Associate II will be responsible for receiving incoming shipments at BMSC’s warehouse. This position is vital in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods into the inventory system. This role will be responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and recording incoming shipments, as well as coordinating with various departments to ensure timely processing. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Receive incoming shipments of goods and materials, ensuring accuracy and completeness of deliveries.
  • Inspect received items for damages, discrepancies, or defects, and reporting damages to the appropriate internal teams and properly notating issues found on BOLs and receiving paperwork.
  • Verify quantities received against purchase orders or shipping documents and update inventory records accordingly.
  • Affix appropriate labels to received items to facilitate identification, tracking, and inventory management.
  • Sort and organize received items for efficient storage and retrieval.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to prioritize and allocate space for incoming inventory.
  • Communicate with Purchasing, Sales, and freight carriers to resolve any delivery issues or discrepancies.
  • Assist in the resolution of inventory discrepancies through accurate documentation and investigation.
  • Handle the return of defective, damaged, or incorrect items to suppliers per established procedures. This may include initiating return authorization, repackaging items for shipment, and updating inventory records.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff when pallets are needed to be moved and transferred from incoming quarantine area.
  • Transfer received goods from the receiving area to designated storage locations within the warehouse. This may involve using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment to move items safely and efficiently.
  • Operation of equipment such as forklifts is optional, not required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized receiving area, ensuring compliance with all BMSC safety policies. This includes following proper lifting techniques and wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Inventory Control teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of received goods.
  • Assist in periodic physical inventory counts and audits as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by warehouse management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in receiving procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall warehouse performance. Periodic review of existing workflows and participating in training programs to develop new skills.

Qualifications


Technical Skills Required

  • Proficiency in using computers and basic software applications for data entry and inventory tracking.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and recording inventory.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment.

Experience Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment, with knowledge of receiving procedures and inventory management systems.
  • 2 years of experience in warehouse or distribution center environment.
  • Forklift certified for sit down models.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects and operate material handling equipment safely.
  • Manipulate objects that could weigh up to 200 lbs.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs overhead.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed to meet business demands.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, and heavy machinery.
  • Physical requirements include from not limited to standing, walking, lifting, and bending for extended periods.
