Primary Purpose:

The job of the CTE Student Educational Aide was established for the purpose/s of providing assistance to CTE Instructors and Directors during the CTE Career Exploration Summer Camp.


Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and implement daily camp activities for a group of up to 100 campers.
  • Performs a variety of clerical activities (e.g., copying, filing, collating, answering phones, etc.) for the purpose of supporting students, staff, and parents.

Job Requirements:

The student must currently be in the following Level 4 CTE Programs of Study: Animal Science, Audio Video Production, Culinary Arts II, Engineering, and Pharmacy Technician.


Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform single tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and planning and managing projects.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include concepts of grammar and punctuation; and college entry requirements.

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Independent problem-solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Be knowledgeable of policies and rules in the student camper handbook and assist in their enforcement.
  • Recognizes and responds to opportunities for problem-solving in a group of participants.
  • Assesses the appropriateness of participant behavior and applies appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Encourages cooperation, teamwork, and participation.
  • Stimulates participant interest in individual and group activities.
  • Works closely, cooperatively, and amicably with all staff members.
  • Seeks advice and/ or assistance from the Camp Director when needed.
  • Notifies the Camp Director if he/she must be absent or late for duty.
  • Reports to work on time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical Demands

  • Light lifting, light carrying, reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, repetitive hand motions; frequent bending and stooping.
  • Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 40% walking, and 55% standing.

Environmental Demands

  • This job is performed in a generally hazard-free environment.
