Description
The Transportation Specialist’s primary responsibility will be transporting non-emergent ambulatory patients to and from medical appointments in a safe, secure and professional manner using hospital provided vehicle.
The Transportation Specialist may also transport lab, pharmacy, materials / supplies and / or specimens to and from designated clinics as appropriate.
The Transportation Specialist must be compassionate, caring, reliable, responsible and personable.
Position Requirements
Education :
High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

Physical Demans & Working Conditions :
May be exposed to fumes, odors, dust, gases, variable temperatures, chemicals and biohazards. Appropriate training for safe handling will be required.
Must be able to frequently lift 20-30 pounds with occasional lift effort of 50 pounds, and to assist patients into and out of vehicle.
Must be able to constant lift carry 20 pounds (i.e. carry a box, etc.). Occasional maximum push / pull effort requiring 100 pounds of force.
Non-material handling activities require occasional bending, stooping, squatting, crouching and kneeling. Frequent sitting, standing and walking.
Manual dexterity to operate controls on vehicle. Vision requirements include far and near acuity, depth perception and field of vision.
Hand eye coordination and reaction times to safely operate a vehicle in varying conditions, including driving in adverse weather conditions, cautiously and safely.
Must be able to hear normal sounds with background noises. Ability to communicate verbally and in other formats and time management skills.
