Job Summary

The Director of Housekeeping & Laundry is responsible for ensuring the operation of the Department in an efficient manner providing all Residents and guests with quality service and a clean and safe environment throughout their stay, while effective managing department staff, departmental expenses and maximizing customer service levels .

They will maintain patient, guest, and customer service relations with an acute focus balancing cleanliness integrity, hospitality, and financial results, while safeguarding each customer experiences the highest level of personalized service.

Essential Functions

Greet all residents, families and visitors with a positive, cheerful attitude

Proficient in various computer systems to include Microsoft products, Outlook and Excel systems.

Must be able to lead by example and follow Bear Mountain standards and policies.

Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written.

Must have the ability to lead, provide direction and guidance to staff, other department peers and or as needed to provide information about department performance, needs, etc.

Will be responsible for the overall hiring, scheduling, leadership, organizing of activities, employment recognition, etc.

Must be able to effectively address concerns with department staff, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and Residents and guests and ensure a successful resolution.

Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider adjust or modify to meet constraints of a particular need.

Must be able to prioritize departmental functions and assign work to department staff to meet due dates and deadlines.

Must be able to collaborate with other department leaders and supervisors and members of the Executive Committee.

Must be able to multi-task and plan work for the day, week and month for self and others.

Ability to lead, train, supervise work of department staff, assist with scheduling, employee guidance and direction. Will ensure staff is properly trained and aware of Companies brand standards.

Regular attendance is required in compliance with Bear Mountain standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the facility’s needs.

Flexible schedule to meet facility demands that may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Lead by example and adhere to Bear Mountain policies and standards and ensure department staff adheres as well.

Will provide direction, instructions and will make decisions to ensure a smooth operation of department functions.

Must, at all times, be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all Residents, guests, and other team members.

Will inspect the work and performance of housekeeping attendants. Will provide overall guidance and feedback to ensure work activities are properly completed and will communicate to Maintenance Director any additional concerns that need to be addressed.

Will ensure housekeeping staff is aware and follows proper safety standards and is familiar with Emergency Procedures to direct and provide guidance accordingly.

Will support other operational needs to ensure adequate supplies and materials are in stock and the department is operating according to budget.

Educate staff on safe chemical handling and labeling; use of Personal Protective Equipment and precaution standards.

Participate in Ambassador Program and engage staff in the program

Participate in QAPI program and facilitate trainings with staff on QAPI goals

Educate staff on our Hospitality standards and the ability to make corrective actions to ensure customer satisfaction. Include the CARE standards into everyday training with the team.

Attend mandatory safety and other training meetings as required.

Flexible Schedule ability to work long hours, weekends, holidays.
