Beacon Specialized Living Services is Hiring a Behavior Specialist Near Mechanicsburg, PA

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • One year of work experience with developmental disabilities.
  • Good understanding of behavior modification techniques and positive approaches
  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and superior listening skills
  • Typing skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office

Essential Functions

  • Implements and develops multi-site crisis management and behavioral management support services including crisis counseling and on-site staff support, as well as hands on physical crisis management assistance if required
  • Develops, trains, distributes, and updates support guidelines, restrictive procedure plans, and behavior management plans for use in the resident’s home or vocational site
  • Develops and implements ongoing behavioral health staff training including

o Crisis management training

o Staff training regarding new and existing restrictive procedure plans and use of behavioral support plans

o Counseling skills with developmentally disabled persons

o Understanding mental health disorders

o Comprehensive treatment program development for persons with Prader-Willi Syndrome

o Behavioral documentation and reporting

  • Participates in monthly clinical/behavioral consultation meetings with residential managers and direct service providers
  • Participates in individual and group clinical supervision meetings with the clinical department members and the director of clinical services
  • Participates in treatment team meetings and case reviews as needed
  • Files clinical records and provides written behavioral management plans, psychosocial reports, and monthly clinical meeting summaries
  • Participates in ISP meetings, inter-agency meetings for the residents of the autism program, school meetings, and assists with the development of outcomes and goals,
  • Completes daily multi-site (rounds) for staff support and resident contact to provide monitoring and counseling
  • Provides temporary crisis staff relief and program staffing coverage as emergencies occur
  • Implements on site incident report follow-up, consultation, and investigation services including post crisis management services review and performance processing with residential staff
  • Assists with other duties as assigned
