Beacon Specialized Living NJ is Hiring a Maintenance Technician Near Princeton, NJ

*Qualifications:*
* High school diploma or G.E.D.
* 2 years of experience in general home/vehicle maintenance
* Valid driver’s license and personal automobile
* Ability to develop and maintain appropriate, productive relationships with all levels of staff, vendors, contractors and businesses
* Ability to effectively complete work-related documentation through paper and computer systems
*General Statement of Duties: *
The Maintenance Technician, under the direction of the Director of Facilities, is involved in all aspects of maintenance and repair of vehicles owned or leased by Beacon Specialized Living New Jersey as well as assists with minor repairs at Beacon Specialized Living New Jersey’s program locations. Maintenance staff may participate in major repairs and/or renovations or additions to properties. Maintenance responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, plumbing and electrical repairs, spackling, painting, tile repairs, carpentry repairs, changing of heating and air conditioning filters, cleaning of vents and ducts, assistance with yard improvements and other types of upkeep and maintenance. Maintenance staff is required to inform the Facilities Manager of any necessary major repairs.

*Essential Job Functions:*
* When directed by Supervisor, performs facility maintenance and minor repairs, which may require carpentry, plumbing, electrical and upkeep tasks; seeks appropriate input from supervisor on priorities and costs.
* Informs supervisor of potential facility safety issues and need for repairs.
* May monitor work performed by an approved outside contractor.
* Completes work within approved budget.
* Enters data each day regarding maintenance tasks pertaining to facilities and vehicles, using computerized record systems. Records work orders, tasks completed, preventive maintenance completed, time and material costs, and any other data as requested.
* Reinforces with staff use of the computerized maintenance tracking system to ensure up to date information and authorizations of work to be done.
* Reviews and analyzes reports provided to maintenance to ensure preventive care is being done, proper use of facilities and vehicles is occurring, work is completed to satisfaction and to meet other goals.
* Helps maintain lists of vendors and reputable contractors.
* Helps prepare paperwork for requests of major repairs and new vehicle requests.
* Monitors fleet maintenance and ensures work is performed within required time frames, at reasonable costs and in accordance with safe work practices.
* May perform periodic safety inspections of vehicles owned or leased by Beacon Specialized Living New Jersey.
* Coordinates road calls regarding disabled vehicles for the purpose of scheduling emergency repair work or determining if the vehicle needs to be towed.
* Ensures that all routine and emergency maintenance of agency vehicles occurs and is based on manufacturer recommendations and operating manuals.
* May assist with the requisitioning and /or purchasing of automotive repairs, collision work and any other related items.
* May instruct managers and direct care staff on the appropriate vehicle use and preventative maintenance, safety precautions and functioning in emergency conditions.
* May instruct managers and direct care staff on routine and preventive maintenance of facilities.
* Helps prepare reports required by municipalities, funders, and other authorized entities.
* May provide input into policies and procedures regarding maintenance, facility and vehicular safety.
* Follows policies and procedures of Beacon Specialized Living New Jersey and upholds its mission, goals and values.
* Ensures confidentiality is maintained at all times in part by ensuring that all records are maintained in secure filing cabinets in designated areas.
* Cooperates with Beacon Specialized Living New Jersey and (DHS) Department of Human Services staff during any inspection or investigation.
* Performs other tasks as required by Supervisor.
* Successfully completes and demonstrates proficiency in all areas of required training.
* Acknowledges the employee’s name will be checked against the Central Registry of Offenders against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.
