Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is Hiring an ASC MATERIALS COORDINATOR Near Cincinnati, OH

Location: ASC Evendale
Days: 5 days - 8 hours / Hours: 7a-3:30p

Position: The ASC Inventory Control Coordinator assists in providing a centralized control point for procurement and distribution of all medical supplies and equipment within the facility. Assists in shipping and receiving, stores prepared articles and supplies in designated areas. Maintains and tracks inventory according to facility procedures.

Requirements:

General knowledge of office and accounting procedures and machines. Knowledgeable about minor troubleshooting of software and hardware.

Education, Vocational Training and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent. Prefer 1-2 years experience in medical supplies/equipment.

  • Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards
  • Reports to supervisor needed repairs or maintenance of equipment or building. In the absence of the supervisor notifies the appropriate repair services and follows up to be certain the problem is resolved.
  • Participates in inventory count.
  • Assists with housekeeping tasks.
  • Is knowledgeable about role in response to emergency situations (i.e., cardiac arrest, malignant hyperthermia, drug reactions, fire, etc.)
  • Performs all duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Participates in the Facility Quality Improvement process and activities including the areas of safety, infection control, patient education, teaching, documentation, adherence to guidelines for cleaning/decontamination of the center, adherence to guidelines for sterilization of instruments and supplies, patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, compliance with OSHA standards and risk management.
  • Demonstrates competency in performing job task and operating equipment on an annual basis.

Specific Duties:

  • Checks updated schedule each morning and assists in preparation of room supplies and equipment.
  • Orders, receives and stocks supplies and equipment.
  • Communicates relevant information to physician, Administrator, and appropriate staff.
  • Coordinates and participates in monthly partial inventory counts and bi-annual full inventory counts.
  • Updates system as necessary (new products, discontinued products, price changes, etc).
  • Enter supplies used in patient electronic file
  • Update Physician Preference Cards as needed

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for purchasing supplies/equipment for surgery center.
  • Works closely with Material Manager/clinical team to determine proper level of inventory.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels as dictated by surgical volume.
  • Receives, unpacks supplies and stocks shelves in general storeroom and in the operating rooms.
  • Update computer inventory.
  • Transports supplies needed for surgery as necessary.

Responsible for crossover duties in other areas of the center.

  • Assists in central supply as needed.
  • Is familiar with aseptic technique and traffic patterns in the OR.
  • Participates in the orientation of clinical staff.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in an orderly manner.
  • Maintains dress and appearance according to standards as observed by management.
  • Strives to be professional, courteous, helpful and cooperative.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Compliance

  • Adheres to FACILITY Standards of Business Conduct.
  • Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.
  • Complies with State and Accreditation Organizations and assures nursing staff compliance by reporting all regulatory concerns or unusual occurrences to Director of Nursing within 24 hours of discovery and when patient injury or disaster occurs Director of Nursing and Administrator are notified immediately.

  • Attends and participates in all applicable facility training and development workshops scheduled by the facility.
  • Completes appropriate financial management responsibilities.
  • Provides input re: equipment and supply needs
  • Demonstrates sound cost containment techniques.

  • Follows established facility policies and procedures with regard to attendance.
  • Maintains attendance according to guidelines and policy established by facility.
  • Adheres to tardiness policy.
  • Provides notification for unscheduled absences or tardiness in accordance with established departmental procedures as noted by supervisor.
  • Requests scheduled time off according to procedure as noted by supervisor

Physical Requirements: Include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and/or feel objects. Must be able to climb, pull, push and kneel. Maximum unassisted lift = 50 lbs. Average lift 25-50 lbs.

Degree of supervision provided to position: Minimal, must be self directed and able to work

independently.
