Beacon Light Behavioral Health System is Hiring a Family advocate Near Mc Clure, PA

Our organization strongly believes that every individual deserves the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. We are seeking a Consumer & Family Advocate who will be responsible for serving as the liaison between the individual, his / her family or legal guardians and governing systems and other social service organizations.

The Consumer & Family Advocate's goal is to provide support and access to necessary services needed while in the program and connections after discharge.

This role will be done in by performing the following duties.

The Community Stabilization and Reintegration Residential Unit (CSRU) treats adults over 18 years old who are dually diagnosed with mental illness and an intellectual or developmental disability.

The goal of the CSRU program is to increase independence in personal skills, home skills, community skills, and social skills, while managing challenging behaviors that result from the intellectual developmental disability or other mental health conditions.

This position requires :

High school diploma required.

This position prefers :

  • An associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Services, Human Development, Child Development or another social service program is preferred.
  • Comprehension of state and federal codes, laws and regulations.
  • Prior experience with families in a school or social service setting and understand principles of child development, education and crisis intervention.

Travel Requirements :

This position gives preference to individuals with an active driver's license and a DMV check that is clear. Position may require travel in the local community or to assist with individuals attending required appointments or visits.
