Beacon Light Adult Residential Services is Hiring an Adult Residential Nurse (RN, Graduate Nurse, LPN, Practical Nurse) Near Bradford, PA

SUMMARY

The staff is responsible for working with the Lead Nurse and Director of Nursing in the delivery of nursing care and overseeing all health concerns within the assigned programs by performing the following duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Be a graduate of Accredited Nursing Program and/or RN Certificate.
  • Possess a current, unrestricted LPN or RN license in the state of Pennsylvania
  • One year of prior experience or training required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. The ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

The ability to solve practical clinical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. Must be able to perform SCM training.

Marginal Duties

  • Attending and completing scheduled required annual training.

  • Assist with the development and monitoring of quality initiatives.
  • Following through on directives given to him/her by his/her supervisor or by Senior Management staff.

  • Meeting with Physician and keeping them informed of special orders concerning patients.

Essential Duties

Duties the employee performs that have a major impact on the delivery of services to our clientele

  • Working and communicating with the physicians to ensure the highest quality of care.
  • Communicating with all other member of the Health Care Department, and administration, including daily and weekly e-mail communication regarding the shift, and weekly health care information.
  • Completing quarterly nursing assessments.
  • Completing nursing assessments whenever an illness or issue arises with any client in the ID/MH/CRRS/Waiver programs.
  • Completing reports for annual IPP's.
  • Documentation of important information and data in a timely and professional manner.
  • Completing Initial and Yearly IPP nursing assessments in a timely manner.
  • Developing health care plans for the individuals as appropriate and to review and revise these plans at least quarterly.
  • Completing breast and testicular exams and documenting in the individual chart.
  • Addressing daily health care needs of the individuals and take the needed action to address the individuals' health problems including physician referrals.
  • Ordering of medication for individual's
  • Obtaining prior authorization for medication as requested.
  • Administering the individuals' medication.
  • Practice the five rights of medication administration.
  • Maintaining and stocking of medications and first aid supplies including PPE's.
  • Ensuring that Individuals families and legal guardians are informed of any significant changes in the individuals health status.
  • Ensuring that proper consents are obtained from the legal guardian prior to any invasive medical or dental procedures.

PROBATION EXPECTATIONS

Must demonstrate during probation competencies in the following areas:

1. Working with MH/IDD Clients

2. Completing Nursing Assessments

3. Developing Health Care Plans

4. Scheduling Medical Appointments

5. Ordering/Stocking Medication

6. Positive Behavior Supports

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to individuals who have mild to moderate intellectual developmental disabilities autistic and may have severe behavior disorders and individuals who have the potential to be hiv-positive, have hepatitis or other communicable diseases. Employment may also require exposure to clients who have a mental health diagnosis which might include: attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, borderline personality disorder, borderline intellectual functioning, depression, bipolar disorder to name a few. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Staff are expected to:

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

This position requires participation in ongoing mandatory trainings while employed. Training requirements are detailed in the Training Plan which is maintained by the Human Resources Department. Along with their supervisor, each staff person is responsible for reviewing the Training Matrix to determine individual training requirements and completing those requirements in a timely manner.
