BDT Mechanical is Hiring an Apprentice Plumber Near Fargo, ND

Job Title: Apprentice Plumber

Department/Trade: Plumbing

Salary Range: DOE

Work Schedule: Full Time

Reports To: Journeyman Plumber

Position Summary: Assist in the assembly, installation and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of water and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes, working under the direction of a Journeyman
Plumber.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.
  • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, cuts and threads pipe, and bends pipe to required angle.
  • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composted of metals and nonmetals.
  • Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent and calks joints.
  • Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, including but not limited to sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, and hot water tanks.
  • Assist Journeyman Plumber with locating parts, tools, equipment needed, running errands and general assistance, as needed and / or directed.
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Essential Skills and Requirements:

  • Comprehend and make inferences from written material
  • Use various tools and equipment, including but not limited to saws, hammer drill, ratchet cutter, T-drill, turbo torches, tamper, jack hammer, and various other hand tools.
  • Will be responsible to periodically operate forklifts, aerial lifts, scaffolding, scissor lifts, backhoes, and ladders, ensuring safe operation by self and other direct reports.

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; stand; stoop; balance; crouch; bend; reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; talk and hear. The employee must be able to frequently lift, push, pull and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally exceed this limit. Employee must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds; operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts; endure heights, extreme at times; and endure confined/tight spaces. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee will be exposed to varying conditions, including but not limited to extreme hot, extreme cold, low light, bright light, tight spaces, open spaces, clean spaces and dirty spaces. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate at times.
