BDE Architecture is Hiring a Design Technology BIM Specialist Near San Francisco, CA

Job Summary:

The BDE definition of a BIM Specialist (Design Technology Specialist by AIA definition) is someone who works directly with the BIM Manager and as a part of a digital design/ BIM team to achieve consistent results. Provides support for project kick–off information and the creation of initial project setup with workflow documents. Supports daily model management administration and maintenance. Supports and contributes to the creation of content and supports the integration of digital design technology products with other applications. Contributes to the development and implementation of design technology systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance & Guidance: Enforce BDE’s BIM and graphic standards, best practices by conducting pre-submission Revit models and drawing sets checks. Guide project teams in addressing identified issues to prevent their recurrence in future submissions.
  • Project Assistance during Deadlines: Provide assistance to project teams during deadlines.
  • BIM Standard Development: Assist in updating Revit project templates, creating new Revit families, and adjusting existing ones, while also providing support in detail updates or creation when additional assistance is requested by the QAQC team.
  • Project-Specific Family Development: Adjust existing families to meet project-specific requirements, particularly for ID projects.
  • Revit Troubleshooting: Offer support in troubleshooting BIM-related issues, particularly during periods of increased demand for BIM support.
  • Research and Development: Assist in research and development of new tools and technologies.
  • Training: Assist in training programs aimed at improving project efficiency and quality. Create BIM SharePoint pages to communicate and disseminate new workflows.
  • Tactful Resolution: Address opportunities with an appropriate sense of urgency, crucial especially during deadlines and urgent troubleshooting.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Advanced proficiency in Revit.
  • Passionate about Autodesk Revit software and committed to professional growth in the BIM domain.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in mentoring and training Revit staff.
  • Detail-oriented and takes ownership of tasks.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills imperative.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program.
  • Revit Certified Professional credentials.
  • An architectural or BIM background. This provides basic understanding of technical knowledge in architectural drafting and design.
  • Knowledge Sketchup, Dynamo or Enscape is a plus
  • 3-8 years of experience, any experience with multi-family a plus
