The Collections Specialist is responsible for ensuring that BCN receives payments from clients as close to contracted terms as possible. The duties include monitoring the respective AR Aging to identify outstanding balances that are coming due, contacting customers or business partners to notify them of overdue payments, working to resolve any issues, and documenting all collection activities. The Collections Specialist also assists the Credit and Collections Supervisor with preparing month-end reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of billing processes.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Self-starter willing to learn all aspects of the industry’s functionality with an eye toward efficiency.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task effectively and efficiently with strong attention to detail.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to assist where needed.
• Ability to recognize the importance of confidentiality and sensitive work product.

Responsibilities:

• Handling inbound and outbound calls.
• Research payment discrepancies and work with client and internal teams to resolve issues.
• Contacting the client to follow up on past due invoices.
• Assessing receivables, identifying potential issues, and coordinating resolution with the client.
• Payment application of invoices.
• Record payments, and account status updates within systems.
• Verify input data to ensure accuracy.
• Create and analyze aging reports.
• Assist with Period End reports as needed.
• Documenting all actions taken to resolve receivables to payment within our TBS system. All Collection notes must be Current, Clear, Complete and Concise.
• Answer questions customers have about statements or outstanding balances.
• Provide periodic statements to the client to supplement collection activities, updating the status on all past due receivables.
• Supporting monthly calls with the Revenue Leaders to review problematic accounts.
• Identify at-risk items and escalate to the Collection Supervisor to ensure they are included on the Watchlist if appropriate.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• Associate degree OR equivalent related experience.
• 1-3 years of collections, customer service experience required.
• Must be organized and detail oriented.
• Collaborates with coworkers and has strong interpersonal skills.
• Excels at customer service and stays calm and professional.
• Demonstrates strong Excel skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Word and Outlook.
• Communicates effectively written and verbal communication.
• Works well independently and has strong organization skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
